The Roof Inside The Boot?

My wife has had a 206cc for about 2 years now, we brought 2nd hand but it was new in October 2001 on a 51 plate.
So she knows the car reasonably well, I've used it on a handful of occasions so don't.
When the roof is down, she swears that the roof used to go up inside the boot door when you opened the boot so all you saw was the blind thing that you could open to put stuff in the boot then pull closed again.

Now when the roof is down and you open the boot you see the roof, as it does not go up in the boot door.

When she said this I agreed and thought there must be a fault on the roof, however having seen the roof on another (newer) 206 it was the same as my wife's now is. This led me to think that I must have only looked in the boot when the roof was up and it was always this way.

She swears though that she has been to the supermarket in the past, left the roof down, then put shopping straight in the back opening the foresaid blind.

Does anyone know if that was how the older 206's were and our car now has a fault or of a fault that may have made the roof do that which has fixed itself. I canâ€™t imagine that she would have been mistaken about that so there must be some explanation.

Hi I used to own a 51 plate 206cc, when the roof went into the boot and you opened it the roof was on top of the blind, not fixed to the boot so when you open it you just see the blind also that would'nt be possible otherwise you'd never be able to open the boot if that makes sense so you are right.

the roof is visible when you open the boot.

When the car is topless you will be able to see the roof in the car resting on the blind.

Nope, roof is not attached to the boot lid.

On the subject of the roof, is it possible to have the centre section of the roof replaced? and if it is, how much could peugeot charge for the whole thing.

I know its a bit of a vague question but hopefully someone will know.

they did do a concept one called 'cool blue' which had a glass section in the middle, also there were pictures going about the 'net of a sunroof for the CC neither of them made it to production models tho

Well I see this has already been answered (a lot) but, as far as my $0.02 is worth, it's physically impossible for the roof to rise up without unfolding. The whole roof is raised by the hydraulics acting on a small lever near the attachment to the car body in the boot - the roof unfolds 'automatically' due to the way the two pieces are connected. Additionally, the hydraulics themselves will resist any attempt to move the roof unless the system has been slackened using the allen key provided for that purpose.

Essentially, it is not possible for the roof to lift up with the boot lid unless there's something seriously wrong with the hydraulics and the roof linkage itself (and your wife has decent upper body strength).
