so it's 7:50am.... i'm on my way to work and stupid me for not realising the boy racers were out so early....

i had to swerve off the road to avoid a car overtaking another and i mounted the kerb at 40mph and took a nice chunk out of my alloy and the roof catches also now don't lock properly (the passenger side roof catch broke off!!!) the wheel was pushed back into the arch and rubbing against the plastic protection

so i was close to an authorised peugeot repairer so i took the pearl there and he told me i had bent the bottom arm and the track rod end!

i'm obviously going to have to pay for it myself as they just drove off!

so i am back at home now... can't get to work or a lift anywhere because everyone else is stranded in florida because of the hurricane!!

NOT HAPPY.... :(

If you have the patience try to make a claim through the Motor Insurance Bureau (MIB.ORG i think) under the Uninsured or untraced driver agreement. You just have to fill in the form and send it off, and report it to the police if you have not already....you should do this anyway...

The MIB is paid for out of you insurance premiums as about £30 per policy is put by to pay for this, so you are entitled to claim and it also forces the police to investigate the incident.

I got hit in March by a guy that drove off, in an unregistered car... and although its taking a long time i will get no claims back, expenses paid and even a personal injury claim payout.

PM me if you have any questions

Fingers crossed you get something from the above insurance company.

Oh Dom..not a good start to your week. :( But glad you're OK.

Will it be fixed for the meet on the 12th d'ya think?

I had yet another near miss coming out of the nursery entrance this morning...cyclists on a non-cycle path..you can't see either way due to an 8ft brick wall either side of the entrance..but even though I stopped in time..the look I got was of pure disgust! So glad littlen finishes there in 3 weeks for school.

you have my sympathy mate. mine was parked in the staff car park last week when some tosser hit it & legged it. its not on cctv either despite being parked right by a bloody camera. it took the front wing, bonnet, headlamp & bumper. apparently theres £1100 worth of damage which means my full no claims bonus has just dissapeared. dont waste your time with the mib as theres a £300 excess ( on top of your insurance excess)

Th Motor Insurance Bureau are pretty useless and VERY slow but the £300 excess is not as well as your Insurance excess.

I have recovered my Insurance excess as part of my claim, and as this was £500 and the other expenses were about £1500 it has proved worthwhile...still not a cheap or easy option but as you pay for the uninsured and untraced driver with every policy.....

For accidents occuring on or after 14 Feb 2003 the new "Untraced Drivers Agreement" applies which includes payment of compensation for damage to property provided the offending vehicle is identified, agreement conditions are met, and subject to a £300 excess.
This is what the MIB say. Basically you need to know the vehicle that hit you. Not particularly helpful if you car was parked up all week, and someone hits you while you are at work. (As happened to me - and am still trying to match the paintwork on my Fiesta)

You still have to pay them £300 for the privelege, from what it says...

you can't do anything unless you know who the driver was or what the car was!!

spoke to the garage yesterday and they said it may be ready this morning... just called and they said to call back at 5pm... i'm praying it'll be ready for 2moro so i can take it to peugeot to overnight the parts for the roof for its service on friday and then i gotta drive to preston!!

guess i'm just gonna have to bite the bullet & lose my no claims. just as well i dont know who did it, as i'd probably get sacked for lampin someone. society tends to be a bit touchy about nurses using violence, lol
