Hi I've just bought a 2001 2.0SE the garage i got it from have been totally useless!! Im having a problem with the alarm, that is, they advise me it has one, but i just cannot get it to work. I tried to see what it sounded like going off, but i just can't get it to go off, with the roof up or down!!! I am probably doing something stupid, but there you go!! There is a switch to the right of the steering wheel, by the air bag switch etc that has what looks like an alarm sound/signal on, but appears to do nothing!!
Any help or tips would be great....... Thanks v much and if i am doing something stupid then feel free to let me know!!!!!!!! Ta Jen

The switch deactivates the ultra sonic sensors inside the car, for when you leave a dog in the car for instance.
The easiest way to check the alarm works is to have the roof up, and central lock the doors press once with the plip so it is deadlocked. Now open the boot with the key. This should activate the alarm. If not a trip to the dealers is on the cards.
