I bet you thought this would be a sort of ‘Jap cars at dawn’ challenge type thread. Quite the opposite, I want to keep my licence, and in view of that I have taken your advice and bought an Origin B2. Its just been delivered, so do you have any tips on fitting it? Did you fit it yourself and is it better to hardwire it in rather than rely on the cigarette lighter power? Anything else I need to know?

lol naaa I wouldn't have competition, maybe vs yr V8, not the RX8 ;)

ok here goes:

I did the install myself but:

the Z sort of lends itself for the installation because: the GPS aerial has gone UNDER the plastics of the rear strut brace. I then put the laser detector on the windscreen, top part. All wires (well 99% of them) have gone under trim and they are all connected behind the driver's seat, as I have a plastic panel where others have a subwoofer, so the place lent itself perfectly to be the "connecting point" for the wires.

The main base has then gone where the Gt model has the electric seats buttons and i have just a bit of plastic, again lent itself perfectly to the task. The main wires have been passed under the plastics of the trasmission tunnel.

That could give you some ideas on your installation, maybe there are some RX8 owners with the B2 on the 8 Forum?

Thanks for that, sounds like fitting it will be no problem, I just wanted to make sure there was nothing that will catch me out. I’m pretty sure I know how I’ll route the cables (following the main loom under the sill trim) the only difficult bit will be trying to get the cables behind the dash; I don’t want them trailing down in front.

What a fantastic bit of kit, install was quite easy, all cables hidden away and it does exactly what I wanted.
Went on a test run straight away, I like the way it only gives the audio warning if you are over the speed limit. Ive just updated the database because in my 10 minute journey I passed 5 camera sites, one camera was put up just a couple of weeks ago and was missed, one camera was removed a few months ago and I got an alert. I'll try the same route with the update and I hope everything will be sopt on. :D :D

glad you enjoyed it! yeah update as soon as possible, the default one is probably very old..... also as a good rule of thumb, I update every week!

it's very flexible with all those functions isnt it?
