Hi all

Thought I would make my first post here as I take delivery of my new 206CC SE next week.

I have gone for a Black CC with Black/Red leather. They told me that the waiting list can be up to 8-10 weeks depending on options, but they had a Black CC with Black/Red leather in the showroom :)

Just a couple of questions as this is the first time I have bought a brand new car:

1. Is there anything specific I should look for when I take delivery? (faults etc)

2. How long is it before u can open her up (oooeeerrr), I know they say with new cars u need to take it easy at first ?

3. During the test drive in there demo SE (1500 miles on the clock) I found the car quite sluggish to pick up, have people found the engines to loosen up after a while and how long?

I am trading in my 99T 206 GT for the CC so I hope I have as much fun as I did in my GT (I bought this with 15k on the clock so the engine was nice and loose already).

Must say though that adding a K&N filter and devil exhaust system seem to make a real difference to my GT, so I think they will be my first additions to my CC in a couple of months.

Regards

Sam

Sam, Welcome to the club...

Ive got the SE too. (see link below) I've luckily only had a few minor problems with it (paint and indicators) but others have had some major ones ..

I suggest having a look at the Problems section and note down the ones that have had many posts....

Also alot of the dealers know about this forum so it might be a good plan to nudge them a bit and let them know you know about it too - Dealers tend to treat you a bit better sometimes if they know you might post something detrimental about their service .....

Good luck - lets hope you get a non-faulty one

Yes...

1. Is there anything specific I should look for?

Check out the survey section as lots of owners have completed it detailing faults on their cars... Me? I had a boot which rubs the roof when opened, tiny weeny scratch on the door handle (bum, didn't notice it until too late), and an early leak when it sat in the rain but that's all sorted (buy some lube from halfords, in a yellow & black spray can)

2. How long is it before u can open her up? I left it for 500 miles but everyone (ROB!!!) told me I was being a chicken and that it would rev free-er if revved from the start. hmmmmm

3. Have people found the engines to loosen up after a while and how long? Oh yessssss! I'm now on 5600 miles and it revs like a beauty. And I thought it was hesitant at first, now I rev the nuts off it and it THANKS me for it

Hope this helps... Pauline

Hi all

Thank you for all the advice. I am collecting the car on Saturday morning, so I just hope the good weather we have had recently wasn't summer come and gone.

I will post again after I have got my car to tell you all how much I am smiling (I hope).

Yep, the demo I drove was a bit sluggish as well, but I reckon that's only because people on demos were just too afraid to open them up a bit, I've done over 5000 miles in my 2 litre Pug and my little baby now flies without wings.

What with one thing and another I'd only driven mine round locally for a couple of weeks. I took it out on the motorway at the weekend, I'd forgotten how well she does fly!

One thing i would always recommend even if it sounds like stating the obvious is always make sure you inspect it when the car is completely dry. If its been sitting outside in the rain or there is any kind of dampness it can be hard to spot any bodywork damage. When i collected mine i gave the dealer a ring a few days before and told them to make sure i could inspect it in the showroom.
Good luck

Hi all

Ok I got my car on Saturday, and a very pleased man I am. Everything seems ok at the moment, it was raining on Saturday when I collected it, so it was a good test to see if it leaks, which it does not.

Must say though on Sunday when the sun came out and I popped the roof down, this is when I realised why I had just spent 17k on a car :D

Just a couple of things though, the car is going back on Friday so they can have a look at a scratch on the facia of the air con unit, and the passenger seat hight adjustment. The seat seems to have a mind of its own and adjust itself to its highist position in about 0.1 of a second (a bit like an ejecter seat lol), but my g/f was not impressed when she banged her head into the roof :(

I have checked the body work and have found a very small chip in the bonnet, it looks like dealer has spotted it too, as it has been touched up, but too much touch up paint was used and it looked more like a drop of paint on the bonnet.

Q. Is this the only method of repairing stone chips, as if it is then I will have to live with a touched up stone chip, I dont want to start respraying the car already?

Q. Also I have a question about the dead locking, I was quite surprised that if u leave the car parked with the roof down, the alarm system turns of the sensors so that any1 can reach into the car without trigering the alarm. If you try to open the door then the alarm goes off. But if the car is dead locked sureley you should not be able to open the door regardless off the situe of the roof. I found that if the roof is down and the dead lock has been activated (2 presses of the remote) u can reach into the car and open the door. Is this correct??

Except for that I am (at the moment) very pleased with my purchase and look forward to a glorious summer of roof down motoring.......if I lived in Spain, but since I dont and I live in England, I am going to get the roof down as often as I can when the sun comes out :D

Sam1974, that blob of "paint" may not be paint but possibly a blob of hardened wax residue left on the vehicle after shipping. Because your pug is black, this can easily be mistaken for a paint problem. At least that is what had happened with my black Pug except mine was on the roof.
