if you mean a squeak not a squeal then I think you will find it is the rubber housing at the base of the steering colum. You can use the same stuff on this as you do on the windows. Or just get the monkeys to do it.

Sorry i meant Squeal (i think) its definately coming from outside the car, ie wheel/Brakes area. sounds the same if your squeally brakes.

col,
when you turn this can stretch the flexi hoses to the brake calipers therefore applying very light pressure to the affected caliper. SO if you already suffer with squeaky brakes this light pressure causes the brakes to catch a bit and reproduce the squeal. Our power steering also makes "liquidy" noises when parking etc. this is just because the power steering pump is working over-time and sometimes playing catch up while you are manouvering all power steering pumps make noises just to vary degrees. (similar the noise you would get if you were pumping 3 in 1 oil with a bike pump i would guess)

Every now and again we experience a squeak, but it doesn't come from the brakes but from the steering rack. It is not power steering whine from being at full lock, and only ever happens when parking (turning wheel at low speed). Any ideas ?? :???:

Most cars do have some power streering noise, especially when turning the wheel at standstill (yep I know your not supposed to do that) but I'm glad to say I don't hear any power steering noises at all from my Pug.
