This is the biggest event on the French Car Club calendar, Citroën, Peugeot & Renault.
To coincide with Bastile Day, the Sydney French Car Day will be held at Silverwater Park, Silverwater on Sunday 11 July from 9:30 to about 2pm.
Let's get a convey of CCs out there for a just a few hours to show those oldies the beauty of the modern French CC!! We could meet up for breakfast at Maccas somwhere first before heading to Silverwater.
How about -
Meeting Place: Maccas at Auburn, on Parramatta Road
Time: 9:30am
Get to the show: 10:30/11am
There will be a small admission fee of $5 to park the car inside the show ground.
Can we get the largest Sydney CC turnout for this??
Here's what the Peugeot Club of NSW had to say:
OsAll French Car Day, July 11 at Silverwater Park
They're cleaning the Peugeots so it's time to prepare your car for the biggest event in the French car club calendar - all French car day.
The Peugeot club is organising the Bastille Day display and invites the Renault and Citroen car clubs and other make car clubs to attend with their fabrique en France voitures et camions.
The program will follow a tried and tested pattern. Arrive from 9:30 and car club judges will judge any cars that have entered the concours d'elegance (get an entry form from an official) with final judging by the Council of Motor Clubs from about 12.30 pm.
Winners will be announced about 3 pm or earlier.
The venue is the same as last year - Silverwater Park, adjacent to Silverwater Road on the southeastern side of Silverwater Bridge.
This is a large park with amenities and a playground for the children, with lots of room for lots of cars and for lots of socialising with all the others who will be there.
Entry into the grounds will be $5 per car. This will assist to recover the costs of the day - venue hire, PA system, CAMS permit and so on.
Last year there were fewer older Peugeots present because the event was held at the same time as the 1953 Redex Trial re-run. There should be a respectful representation this year.
Plans are being made for a raid on Sydney for the weekend by Queensland Simca owners and importer/restorer Peter McLeod is rounding up as many Citroën SMs as he can.
Categories for awards will be decided on the day.
Anyone with an interest in holding a trade display is welcome to contact the organisers to discuss their proposal. Doug Smith 9456 2024, John Geremin, 9758 5686, or Steve Palocz, 9369 0942, are the contacts.
The organisers request that a donation of an item from the display be donated for the raffle to be drawn on the day.
With Sydney's water supplies down to some 50 per cent a number of water restrictions are in force. If this situation still applies in early July, please be considerate when preparing your car for the concourse. The judges will take account of the effect of the water restrictions on your preparations when assessing your car.
For refreshments, you are welcome to bring your own to make a family picnic of the day.
In addition, we hope to have the services of Concord Rotary Club serving meals (as they did in 2003) and coffee. A coffee man with a van has been booked. (That'll keep UFO happy )
