It's my 21st birthday next month and my dad has said he will buy me a brand new car for my birthday (Yes I know how lucky I am). I have wanted a 206CC since they first came out so straight away I told him I wanted a 206CC.
He is now refusing to buy me one because he thinks french cars are a load of rubbish as he has always bought German cars. He is trying to convince me to get an Audi A3 but I think they are really boring and want A 206CC!
How can I convice him that the 206CC will be reliable as every time I mention I want one he just laughs and says it will spend longer being fixed than it will being driven? :x
Help pursuade my dad that 206CC's are good!

Due to the amount of small niggly problems I have with this car I have to admit that the Audi A3 will be better built and that french cars though they are look good aren't the best built cars in the world.
A3 in the long run. 206cc in the short run and for the fun factor of having the roof down.

A3 has to cost more and you'll pay a lot of add-on to get the same spec as a cc, but it will hold it's money. And they have good build quality.
The cc is French and will very likely need a few bits doing to it- but that's what warranties are for isn't it?
Does the roof come off the A3 that he is looking to get you...

Just because you're paranoid, it don't mean they're not after you.

The A3 he wants to get is the 1.6 (Due to insurance) and costs about £15K I think which is around the same price as a 206CC.
Buying an A3 and selling it is definitely out of the question as I would probably find my bags on the doorstep when I got home. As for the Z4 my dad might be generous but he isn't that generous!!
You mention that the Peugeot won't be as well built as the Audi but what sort of problems can I expect? Are we talking a few rattles or are we talking about the roof seizing up or leaking?
I need to pursuade my dad the 206CC is not going to have any problems otherwise all I will get it "I told you so"

My husband has a Beetle - same base as the Audi A3, just different badge and body! He's had a few problems with it (coils went twice) but here's the difference - our VW dealer actually CARES! Whereas the pug dealer scratches my CC everytime I take it in, bunch of w:censored:s.
The thick metal and thick paint on the beetle are infinitely superior to the tin foil and nail polish they use on the CC but the CC has one advantage - the tin top!
So my solution is... when the golf CC comes out, I'm getting one!
But it's up to you, I wouldn't buy another Peugeot ever. I had a megane before and even that was loads loads loads better, up there with the Vee Dub (well, nearly).
Good luck.

You might wanna tell your Dad that the A3 isn't perfect either. Customers were leaving their cars back at the dealers sitting for a month waiting for the fix from Germany to replace the dead front wiper motor.
Daddy's girl trick - tell him that if he wants you to be happy, then you should be able to choose what you want, otherwise who is the present for - him or you?
(Have used this myself, but not for a car!

Does your Dad want to adopt?
Bit odd this one as I got a new CC within a month of my partner getting a new A3 FSI.
I like driving the Audit but mainly cos it has an upgraded BOSE sound system and I always wanted an A3.
But I have to say I am glad when it is Monday morning and I get the CC back. It is defo a lot more fun to drive and as a first car you can't go wrong (especially if he will foot any repair bills).
I always look admiringly at all CC's but A3's just sort of pass me by.

Let's face it, buying a CC is not about being practical ! Whoever bought this car to be practical ???
We all bought it 'cos we wanted it. It's fun, it gets a lot of attention, etc....
DrHans - just tell your dad to buy himself an Audi if he wants one, but that you definitely want the CC !
You're only turning 21 now. There's plenty of time later for making practical decisions !

for fun and topless motorin then it's the 206CC all the way
if it's trouble free motoring ya after then maybe the 206CC as got a few too many 'niggles' compared to the A3 but like someone said in this thread they have had trouble with there A3 so it seems to be pot luck
i would think that the 206CC would be a lot more fun to drive and give you greater enjoyment which in turn you'd show ya dad have much ya love him for giving you such a wonderful car

yes this is a forum for 206CC owners and there are more people that would say take the 206CC but they're out enjoying the topless feeling
