i'm likely to buy a 307CC next year but also considering buying a 2nd car for work as with any luck i might be doing a job where i won't want to waste a 307CC to do the travelling etc..

what ideas do people have for a 2nd car ? options would be a used car from an auction etc.. or a new car like a Citroen C2 as they are selling for £6k the now for a new one.

what do people think ?

i like puma's too but for a 2nd car i will want a basic car but reliable.

ideally it would be an older car as if things go to plan i will be a project manager for new store aquisitions so there could be a bit of mileage involved which is why i woudn't want to waste the 307CC and hammer it's value.

attraction of a new small car would be for reliability and if it only costs around £6k or less then at the end of the day it can only lose up to £6k in value.

How about a normal 206, or even the HDI if you want fuel economy?

diesel is a good possibility but wouldn't mean it wouldn't be a new car due to price.

i would say no to a 206 as i had one before the CC and i now think it is starting to show it's age.

keep the ideas coming :D

A friend of mine picked up an Audi A3 (think it's S or T reg) for about 6k. It's a 110bhp TDi engine and is a great car, very reliable and good on economy.

Otherwise you might want to look round for a low mileage 306 HDi which are also excellent cars.

Get something Japanese as they will tend to be very reliable with few problems.

If you are going to be doing a lot of miles, I'd go for something big (long wheelbase) and comfy (aircon essential).

If you can get an old Merc or Beemer (diesel if economy is an issue) that would be good. Or even a Pug 406.
