New Tyre options?

I am in need of two new front tyres

, as the F1's have scrubbed off the outer edge I was wondering if a change in tyre to a harder compound would be an option.

Has anyone tried a harder tyre? I know there world be a reduction in grip but I am looking for a compromise between the two.

Any Ideas???

the F1's are fine, you just need to get your tracking chewcked more frequently and check your tyre pressures (32 psi for 2.0l)

as rob says the F1's are fine. I would keep with them. i have replaced 2 front tyres and later another set of 4 and sayed with the F1's. the new GSD3 F1's even have a lip to protect the alloys - great tyre.

the price varies as you shop around. last year i paid Â£93 each when buying 2 and this year Â£87 each when buying 4. that includes fitting and balance etc..

often your best bet is to try the local small places, probably adverts in local paper or something. these places buy the tyres such as this size as they need them and phone all their suppiers for the best price.

Â£74 for F1 GS-D3's at www.mytyres.co.uk
Last year they were Â£103 i think.

I pay Â£5 per each tyre to be fitted so it's worth the hassle of fitting them yourself.

you can try Toyo Proxies T1-S. These are as good as Eagle F1's and they cost around Â£65 from www.mytyres.com

Umm... just as I thought I will probably stick with the F1's then, thanks for the comments I take it the D3 are just the replacement tread for the D2?

I did manage to get a d3 quote for Â£90 ish so they will be on order , cheers

What???

They are Â£73 on the internet!! That's Â£17 cheaper each. Even after Â£5 fitted that's almost Â£25 cheaper for the pair!!
Might only be Â£25 but it's better in your pocket than somebody elses!!

maybe they want the easy option

the savings would need to be silly for me to be bothered with the hassle of getting tyres delivered and needing to go and get them fitted.

no time for that so just go with the cheapest option.

i used to get a set of 4 uniroyals for 106/20/306 etc.. for about Â£55-Â£60 when my dad worked for continental, that made the hassle worthwhile but not for a small saving.

Its their choice then.

I'm going to get the Toyo's when the F1's have had it and get them fitted and delivered for around Â£68 a corner.

I know a good garage and they will fit it for Â£5 each too.
