I am in need of two new front tyres , as the F1's have scrubbed off the outer edge I was wondering if a change in tyre to a harder compound would be an option.
Has anyone tried a harder tyre? I know there world be a reduction in grip but I am looking for a compromise between the two.
Any Ideas???

2.0SE standard alloys, well standard everything (for now).
Car or bike, car or bike, oh some choices in life are just too hard.
as rob says the F1's are fine. I would keep with them. i have replaced 2 front tyres and later another set of 4 and sayed with the F1's. the new GSD3 F1's even have a lip to protect the alloys - great tyre.

the price varies as you shop around. last year i paid £93 each when buying 2 and this year £87 each when buying 4. that includes fitting and balance etc..
often your best bet is to try the local small places, probably adverts in local paper or something. these places buy the tyres such as this size as they need them and phone all their suppiers for the best price.

I did manage to get a d3 quote for £90 ish so they will be on order
What???
They are £73 on the internet!! That's £17 cheaper each. Even after £5 fitted that's almost £25 cheaper for the pair!!
Might only be £25 but it's better in your pocket than somebody elses!!
the savings would need to be silly for me to be bothered with the hassle of getting tyres delivered and needing to go and get them fitted.
no time for that so just go with the cheapest option.
i used to get a set of 4 uniroyals for 106/20/306 etc.. for about £55-£60 when my dad worked for continental, that made the hassle worthwhile but not for a small saving.
