Hello All
I am due to pick up a 2nd hand 206cc on Saturday. I have been reading through your Faults forum and have started panicking. Mine would be a 'Y' registration 2.0 litre. I did notice that the console was in french and the airbag light was on, although the passenger airbag was switched off so maybe it was a warning, I dont know too much about the 206cc apart from it drove great and was extremely comfortable. I am about to trade in my MX-5 'H' for this car and now I am worrying about all the faults you guys are finding even with new ones!! Any words to calm me down would be great although I still want the car, dont want it to spend its life in and out of the garage!! Should I walk away and not get it?
This website has been great though, helping me find out more and what to expect.
NEED ADVICE- soon to be a 206cc owner

The language on the centre console can be set to English. The only problem I've had with the car are the squeak brakes reported by the majority of the owners. I'm now in the processing of upgrading to performance discs and pads which should fix this. Other than that the car has proved reliable and with no major faults. My roof is reliable and has never broken down.
I still think the car is great. Especially Summer is here now

Thanks Eddy
I still love the car and will be a huge upgrade from my old MX-5 (which does have a leaky roof). After discussing with Hubby we have decided that we still want it and come what may, we are aware there have been probs (and remembering back, the breaks squeaked a bit!!) Long term though, if the problems get sorted, fantastic car to own and to have sat outside the house. The neighbours are gonna be soooooo jealous, tee hee !!!!!
Thanks!

Hi Sandi
I posted the very same concerns as you after I'd already agreed to buy one and wondered whether I was making a mistake, as all I kept reading were faults, faults and more faults!
However, having got mine, I'm really chuffed with it. It is comfy and has a couple of niggles (common ones like the oil dash light doing its own thing and the squeaky brakes), so is going into the garage soon.
But overall, it was still the right decision and its just great driving with the roof down.

It was good to know that I am not the only who went through that moment of panic. Went and took another look at the car last night and both my husband and I decided that it was well worth the chance, cant wait to get in it at the weekend, I am sooooo excited!!!
Will keep you posted how I get on.
Happy Driving

Hi Sandi
I read about everybody's problems and, just like you, had a fleeting moment where I thought "Am I doing the right thing?" Had already paid deposit on a 4 month old 1.6S and decided it was well worth the risk and I'm soooo glad I did!!! Had my car a week now and it's fantastic, great fun to drive and a real head-turner. Certainly has the WOW! factor. We went to stay with friends for the weekend (he's a Porsche Boxster S driver and even he was impressed) and had the roof down all the time. Go for it...you won't regret it.

Life's too short to drive around with your roof up.

This is great news. I am glad that despite feeling worried you all stil bought your cars... and LOVE them. I know I'm going to. I also know I am going to get some stick at work about being 'so flash' but what the hell, they're just jealous.
When I'm driving my MX-5 with the roof down, especially the last few days, I keep imagining I'm in my CC instead, how sad is that!

Everytime someone I know sees me in mine, they don't say 'I saw you driving with your roof down', they do say 'I saw you posing' - so yep, expect the flack and laugh back at them!!
They really are just envious

Why is that posing ?!!! You wouldnt buy a convertible and never put the roof down. What amazes me is that these people could buy one if they wanted to, they just dont.
There are so many more convertibles on the road now, it's not such a flashy thing anymore.
There is nothing better than the air blowing around your ears on a hot summers day, it cannot be beat!

Sandi,
You are so right - its not posing, its just enjoying the whole reason for buying the car! And yes, they could buy one if they wanted to..but until I bought this I always had reservations about (a) roof getting slashed and/or broken into (b) leaks and (c) higher insurance costs.
Now that I'm older
it's cheaper and I've said blow it, I'm gonna do it anyway! So I did!

You only live once right! Why should we worry about what others think, you get once chance to enjoy yourself and everyone should do what makes then happy, even if others dont agree with your choices.
I'll stop there, getting a big 'heavy'. But I say good for you.
As for insurance, I havent a clue yet what its going to cost, should I expect to be shocked! My hubby and I are both in our 30's so I dont think it's gonna be a massive difference to our MX-5 (group 12) plus I think we decided we didnt care too much as it was worth it.

Hey Sandi,
You are doing the right thing. Put it this way, you don't really have a choice in the matter, do you? What else would give you so much pleasure (and is a car) ???
And keep everything in perspective. I seem to remember reading somewhere that Peugeot have sold over a million 206's. Not sure how many of those are CC's, but it would be a goodly number, methinks. Peugeot are selling 80x CC's a month here in Australia alone.
There are only about 600-700 owners on this forum. How many CC owners are there out there who haven't even thought of looking on the net for anything 206CC related ?
I guess they don't have time for the net. They're just happy driving around, enjoying their car... :-)

Just been outside today and its 21 degrees up here in Sunderland. Days like this just makes you want to go outside and drive around in the CC just to enjoy the weather.
