just to let ya all know

me mum was in hospital friday April 30th having a op on a badly dislocated right shoulder, she as also dislocated her left one twice in the past month, came out Monday seemed pretty good but midnite Wednesday we had to phone for a ambulance as she had terrible stomach pains, in pain all day Thursday,Friday morning she was rushed into theatre with a suspected hole in her bowel which could be serious

3 hours later she came out and it was a burst stomach ulcer, more than likely caused by years of taking tablets for her arthritis, they are keeping her asleep as it's better for her that way in intensive care, it's just so sad seeing a much loved one like that with all the things in her and being so helpless just having to wait and watch but hopefully she's now on the slow but steady road to full recovery, just takes time :)

so can we all try and keep the peace on this website/forum as i've got rather a lot on me mind at the mo

cheers

Lyndon

I hope everything goes OK for your Mum.

My partners father was in intensive care last year and the care that they get there is fantastic. She is in very good hands.

Best wishes.

Really sad news about your Mum. I hope everything goes well. I am a nurse in ITU and you must believe Bif when he says that she will get the best care. The staff are also there for you and will want to make everything as comfortable as possible for you and your family. You MUST look after yourself at this time. It's really important that you eat well (now I probably sound like your Mum!) and try to get some rest because when your Mum regains consciousness that is when she's going to need you to be there for her and be strong. Being the relative of a patient in ITU when they are sedated is the hardest thing...your Mum will be comfortable and will probably not remember much of what is going on. Talk to her, tell her you love her and tell her things that would make her laugh. Keep your chin up!

Hope your Mum gets well soon. I know she will be in very good hands at the moment and as Tracy said, you need to look after yourself at this time.

Take care and try and stay positive :)

Hope she gets well soon mate.

We've had a few health scares in our family recently (not so serious, mind you, but scarey when you don't know what's happening), so I know how precious good health is.

PS: I promise not to inflame any arguments for the time being ;)
