Amp and speaker matching - Ohms

Ohm is resistance and impedance measurement.
You can put for instance 8ohm speaker to 4ohm amp.
If you put 4ohm speaker to 8ohm amp there may be problems, but new amps comes with protection (so it could turn itself off if there is too much charge).

hmmm wrong way around for car audio as home amps and car audio differ emencley!
if you put a 2 ohm load into a amp it will in theory put out double the power as the amp is working half as hard due to half the resistance most amps are safe with a 1 ohm load,
if you have 2 4 ohm subs the way to do this is to put the pos from the amp to the pos on speaker 1 then neg from speaker 1 to pos speaker 2 and neg from speaker 2 to the amps negative
