Hi all,

i've been browsing the site for a little while now, read the forums, looked at the pics, it's a great site. My girlfriend is just about to buy a CC within the next month I would imagine :D . Basically, she's going to buy a two year-old 2.0se hopefully, with leather and as many options as possible, I just wanted to ask a couple of questions:

(1) The roof. Are there any major problems with the roof? I've heard of leaks, roofs getting stuck up/half-way up. We looked at a few at Fords Of Winsford and one of them even had carpet tape on the roof to stop it opening up

(2) Engine. Is there much difference between the two? On paper, there's only 28bhp between them, but does the 2.0 come with a better spec too? From what I can see, there's a 1.6s, 2.0se and some special editions....We would like a black 2.0se I think, with the 16" multi-spoke wheels.

(3) Body mouldings. Which models have the body-coloured mouldings? We've seen nice Aegean blue models with black mouldings that would look gorgeous in the body colour.

(4) Gearbox. Should we even entertain an automatic? It's only available on the 1.6 isn't it?

(5) ICE. My girlfriend already has a nice Kenwood head unit and 10-disc changer that we'd like to put in her new CC. Would the standard size unit fit ok? Do we need adapters and stuff? Where's a good place for the changer? Ideally, I'd like to put the changer in the glovebox if there's room!

(6) Dealership. We live near Warrington and would like to get the car serviced at S Hall Motors in the town. Does anybody have any dealings with them and are they any good?

(7) Servicing. What are the service intervals and what do they cost approximately?

Well, that should do it I think! Thanks in advance to any responses, and once we've got the car we'll stick some pics on here, then start saving up for some Ecosse bits 8)

Just like to say hello.

Not been here long myself so I am sure the others will be better placed to answer your queries.

Good luck with your search.

(1)
Leaks not as common now. Very few occurences of roof failure - aprt from mine the now but that has happened because the dealer isn't very clever and messed about with it resulting in it not working

(2)
2.0 is best if you can afford it although i have heard the 1.6 is adequate. 2.0SE is better spec. on earlier models that you are looking at, the SE had a sports bumper (deeper grill) where the S had the standard bumper. the S got the sports bumper about 21 months ago if i remember right.

(3)
Body mouldings have been body coloured from round about last summer as standard. earlier models can easily be colour coded and look much better.

(4)
Auto only available as a 1.6. if you don't need auto then get manual.

(5)
No idea in this area, post in the ICE section or await someone elses reply :D

(6)
No idea

(7)
Servicing is every 20k miles or 2 years, whichever comes first. Prices vary dealer to dealer so shop around. The 20k service cost me £106, other quotes were £125 and £150

Well, that should do it I think! Thanks in advance to any responses, and once we've got the car we'll stick some pics on here, then start saving up for some Ecosse bits

good choice :D [/b]

Hello Bif  and Hello Derek  , and everyone else

Thanks for your replies, it looks like we/she will be getting the car at the end of this month, all dependent on selling the Tigra. Glad to hear the car has decent service intervals, and reasonably cheap servicing too.

I'm looking forward to having a go in it too, I got my new car on March 3rd (04 Honda Accord Sport) and I'm bored silly with it already, knew I should have got the Leon Cupra R

Looks like I'll be spending all my money at Ecosse come birthday and Christmas times
