Hi all,

After being a BIG Puma fan and using a very similar forum for that, i am in need of some opinions!

My Puma was stolen last week and i want to replace it with another one although the wife wants me to get a cc..

When reading reviews on Pumas you would be hard pushed to find anyone who moans about them but i'm finding there are plenty of complaints with the cc. I'm testing a 04 1.6cc allure at Peugeot - Heath Park on Saturday so looking forward to seeing what it can do. I'm concerned with complaints about leaking roofs and jamming and also rattling windows. I hate rattles and this is already swaying me back to the Puma!!! have they sorted these problems with the new models????

I need some convincing if you would be so kind :)

Cheers

Hi mate, leaking roofs are more prone to the older models of cc's.

I've had my cc 5weeks now, its a 2001 plate and im extremely happy with it. Wouldnt change it for the world, unless i won the lottery and that was my run around! he he

I have got an 04 Allure 2.0 CC and have only had one problem with it... the dreaded drivers door leak where the roof meets the windscreen.

A couple of days in the Zoo [Pug Garage] sorted this and I have had no problems whatsoever since. I admit I am a bit deaf, but the only rattles I have noticed are from the windstop when it's "down" and I am on a bumpy road.

Have had the roof up and down a lot since they fixed the leak and it has not leaked since. Only got a very tiny leak at the weekend when I went to a hand car-wash where they attacked the car with a high pressure jet-wash and blasted the roof seal area (which I asked them not to do). This leak was literally 4 drops - so I am fairly happy that the car is watertight now.

I have to say that my CC is infinately better built that my previous 206 GTi - I had a bit of a Friday afternoon one that rattled quite a bit.

Every car has it's niggles, but the few I've had have not made me regret getting a CC - especially now the weather is warming up & drying up :D

forums such as this one do point out all the bad things about a car but like the other owners have said they still like the CC with/without the niggles that may show themselves :D :D :D :D :D

just think of all the CC owners that are so happy with their car that they forget to post telling other how glad they are driving a 206CC :D

I had a 1.7 Puma too until some swine wrote it off for me before New Year, now I have an CC 04 reg 2.0 Allure

I've found quite a difference between the two.....they are very different cars, personally and I may be hated for saying it but I think that the Puma was "put together" a lot better. Am a little torn but I think that if they'd continued to make Puma's now then I might have had a brand new one of them and not the CC although I had always ooed and aahed at the CC's !!! Who knows !!!!

I consider the Puma a "sports" car whereas I don't my CC (cowers before anyone shouts !!!!!) There are quite a few bits I miss about the Puma but the CC is such a posey car to drive !!!!!

I've had some niggly things with my CC (leaky roof) but my mate has an SLK or is it a CLK I can't remember (convertible anyway) and that has a few drips as well.

Give a CC a go - I don't think you'll get the full driving potential from just a test drive...whats the worst that could happen...u don't like the CC flog it to someone else next spring and buy a 2nd hand Puma.

I've no regrets so far though I miss having 4 seats a little plus my 6 CD player in the dashboard

thanks people, i've been doing my research on this car so i suppose the final thing is to get behing the wheel of one and see how it goes, call me centimental (spelling??) but i'm still in love with my puma that was taken so cruely from me :( :x

But on the other hand like smiler said if i do buy one and am not happy can just sell it!! would be good for the summer at the very least, tis a top looking baby though!

I know this question must have been asked a million times but is there a big difference in power between the 1.6 and the 2.0???

I was told the 1.4 puma was nippy but it's shite compared to the 1.7!!

Thanx again :D

I think Lyndon / Tracey / Smiler have said it... while there may be "niggles" with many of the CC's - you won't find many owners who don't like them - especially in the Summer (unless they have a really bad one).

There are 2 other CC's in the carpark at work and both their owners have no regrets like me. (One is a Y reg and the other a 51).

I also agree that CC is not a sports car - is a fun one to drive [or pose] in, but is not a sports car.

One final point - can anyone say / advise why the 206 GTi (same engine etc) has a carbon emission of 185 [whatever] so qualifies for £145 road tax, yet the CC with the same engine is 191 [whatever on carbon emissions] and as such picks up road tax of £165? The only thing I can think of is the increased weight of the car - but I thought the tax was based on the engine...!

I've had my CC for over 3 years now and it has never leaked.. In fact I have had very very few problems at all with it.. :)

And yes you are correct, it is due to the extra weight of the CC that the emmisions are higher than the GTi

Zone,

I'm gutted bout my Puma too, I loved it and am ever so slightly jealous when I see one now but today with the roof down, the shades on.... being in a CC is the coolest thing about !!!!!

I test drove a 1.6 then bought the 2.0 just cos of the extra things on it though with hindsight I'm not sure they're worth it..personal opinion I suppose. Engine I'm not sure there's much in it, depends what you're after.

My friend works for Ford and he reckons Peugeot builds are similar in the quality..not sure I'd agree but hey.

Good luck with your decision and let us know what you decide.

i think the fact that i had a CC that was a complete lemon and had the offer of a full cash refund yet still took a replacement says how good they are - few problems recently but don't regret taking the 2nd one.

i love the look of puma's and considered getting one a few years ago but given the choice of a puma or CC and the CC wins easy.

I posted something about this a few weeks ago.

I have just traded in my two year old 1.7 Puma for a 1.6 Allue.

The build quality of the cc seems to be a bit inferior but I have absolutely no regrets. I love the cc, roof down and roof up!

The drive is not as sporty but it is still a good drive. I also find the 1.6 engine sometimes feels a lot faster than the Puma. This will also get better when I feel like I can give it more welly.

I haven't had a leaky roof ... so touch wood. I have a few niggles but they are being sorted out.

People tried to talk me out of it ( especially on the Pumapeople.com website) but at the end of the day it's up to you.

I would just say that I think the Puma is starting to look a bit long in the tooth and old fashioned, but I seem to be in the minority there.

Good luck :D
