No you didn't dream it! Someone sent that to me when I posted a question about scrapping my alloy on the kerb (I think it might be in the general form entitled "Alloys"). I haven't visited Halfords yet, but will let you know. The other suggestion made to me was to try "Chips Away". I thought it was a product, but it's actually a company that comes out to your car and fixes it. I've only got as far as e-mailing them and they then tell you the number of your local rep. Assume you then call them and they come out and give you a quote. My alloy isn't too bad so I might try the Halfords option first. I was told on this site that Chips Away is about £50, but at least you get a quote first and then can decide.
Hope this helps!

I'm sure in my e-mail to Chips Away I did say that it was the alloy I wanted fixed up. Why don't you send them an e-mail to check? You don't have to give them any phone details/address etc as they'll just send you the number of the local rep so you're under no obligation and you won't get hassled if you're not interested.
Good luck.

chips away do it for around £35 a wheel. one of my alloys is heavily kerbed. they fill the damage & then spray & laquer it without removing a wheel. for £40 a copany called lap tab in birmingham are much better. they strip the wheel in acid, shot blast it. repair damage, powdercoat & bake it in an oven. wheel comes up to manufacturer spec. more hassle as you lose your wheel for a day if taking it, longer if sent by courier. may be better to put a cheap wheel on the cc from a scrap yard for a few days & have a decent job done !
