Potential new owner changing from Puma

Hello everyone,

my first post with you, so be nice

I have a 2 yr old 1.7 Puma that I love but I fancy a change and am looking to buy a 1.6 allure. (The 2.0 is a little out of my price range)

Have any of you got any experience of the Puma -v- the cc. Even the Peugeot salesman, that I have seen today, said that it won't be as good to drive as the Puma?

Also am I making a big mistake going for the 1.6 compared to the 2.0?

I know these are all vague questions.

Was good to see that there is this site on the net as I am use to the Puma one, which is really helpful.

Was going to ask you guys for some help in deciding which colour to get but I thought i could be opening a can of worms!!

no idea about the Puma, but 'Rob' on this site has a Racing Puma so may be able to help.

If you can afford the 2.0 then get it but despite references being made to a Dyson in recent times

i believe the 1.6 to be pretty decent.

colour is all about personal taste. i have aluminium but like aegean blue but didn't get it as my last 206 was sapphire blue. i need to say the diablo red looks really nice - i once had a 106 in that colour.

just make sure you get leather interior but if you get the allure model then i think it's standard.

welcome almost to the world of the CC

dunno what a puma's like to drive but i know the 1.7 is about on par with the 2.0 litre CC's 0-60 time but then again the CC is a heavier car

i beg to differ about the handling of the CC compared to a puma as all the puma is, is a fiesta with a different shell

where as peugeot are well known for there well handling chassis or this could the ramblings of a drunken typer

i'm sure a lot of other users will help out

rob is bitter that after 3 CC's he didn't get one upto his high standard, IE no faults at all

at the end of the day it's your choice, take a CC for a test drive and see what ya think or some dealers may be able to lent ya a CC for a hour to fully test it out

Hi I owned a Puma 1.7 like you before going for the cc and the cc is nothing like the Puma in power and torque and the Puma's handling is better than the cc but the cc was nice in that you could put the roof down.

It is all down to personal taste and also to MOST importantly what your local pug dealer is like.

Some are absolute crap. I am sure people on here will tell you what local dealers to trust and those not to.

I still admit I miss putting my roof down on a sunny day, but then I never drive my FRP either. I just clean it and look at it

Just remember a good dealer is all important with a pug - other than that have fun.

Sorry am going a bit bonkers looking through this site but am gonna reply to this posting as well.

I had a 1.7 Puma (that some swine wrote off for me before New Year 2003

) and so in a weird way he did me a favour cos I got the chance to buy my CC that I'd wanted but couldn't afford

They really are very different cars to drive - the CC is definately chunkier and you feel as if you have a decent amount of car round you. I do miss bits of my Puma but having the CC has far made up for it.

I also had a fantastic Peugeot dealer to deal with, the salesman was fantastic, not at all smarmy and v honest bout my questions.

I'm so glad I had a Puma for 2.5 yrs but (so far) have absolutely no regrets in buying the CC. Mine is the 2.0 but I test drove the 1.6 and honestly didn't feel much difference.

Go buy one !!!!

virtually every dealer is good when you buy the car, mines was excellent - the problem is the after sales service where my dealer excels in being absolutely useless.

Deal done.

Just ordered Aegean Blue 1.6 Allure which I can have as soon as fitted CD changer, parking sensors (had them on Puma and thought it would be a good idea on new car) and my number plate transferred.

I hope I don't regret it, but I do feel rather pleased with myself.

No disrespect to you fellow cc owners but I hope it pi**es it down between now and when I get it so at least it won't be a wasted opportunity for me.

Only joking I don't want to get off on the wrong foot with you all.

Any body want some Puma mats and tax disc holder?

Good decision Bif - gr8 colour 2 !! I couldn't decide which colour to get but I was 2 impatient to wait for another colour and the Aegean Blue one was there brand new when I went into the showroom so it seemed rude not to buy her !!!! plus I think I got an absolutle bargain for an 04 reg. Just wish this stupid british weather would stop raining so I can give her a nice clean.

Think I may have started a trend in my street as this morning I woke up to my find that my neighbour has bought a moonstone CC. Now mine has a friend !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont get me wrong. I would probably still have to think hard about a CC or a puma. But I am lucky as I have the Racing Puma - totally different kettle of fish. Dont know any one who has one of those who would buy a CC

Oh and Lyndon I was wrong about not driving mine. I have done 3.8 miles so far this year.
