Hi everyone,
bit of advice - just bought my 206cc last week and the exhaust
seems to be making a noise like its blowing out. Most noisy
in the mornings when its cold and between 2000 and 3000 revs
when driving.

It has already had the mainfold and cat replaced a few weeks
before I bought it. i can't believe anything would have gone
already after such a short time - is it just me or do they
normally give off a bit of a growl as u accelerate.?
by the way its the 2.0 engine.

well it depends how loud the 'blowing out' sound is, cuz mine does make a noise like that when i put my foot down, alse there is a deep noise coming from what appears to be under the passenger side of the bonnet, it sounds like maybe the airbox is a bit loose somewhere but i aint had chance to have a proper look! and that happens between like 2-3000 revs. Mine is also the 2.0
It could well be that the car is supposed to make that sound, but like i say it depends just how loud it is...without hearing it its hard to give advice...you should check with the dealer although they will normally give you and old bull s*it to keep u happy!

if ur exhaust is fooked like mine then it will be blowing from 0 revs upwards

hi there

i have just got my car back from the dealers. i had a blowing noise when doing between 2000 to 3000 revs and knew after looking on this site its the manifold, so after telling my dealer they agreed and put it right.

this is the most useful site i have come accross for cars and should get an award!

I had the 'manifold noise' on my GTi..
Jus had a new mid section fitted and it's stopped making the noise now...strange.

Sometimes the Flexi Joint at the top of the Front/Cat Pipe where it clamps to the manifold can leak causing a similar noise..
