Ya cheeky bugga, nah, apparently theyve only had these in stock for last 6 weeks, and are pretty hot off the shelves, and I can see why.

Apparently I can use my existing bulbs as theres a coloured coating that you cant see until you look into the lights themselves, well, according to the guy when I contacted them. If not, anyone know the correct bulbs to get to save me any grief?

There doesn't appear to be a reflector in there anywhere. If that's the case, you're going to need to stick reflectors on the back of your car.

Ah, now I got my lights fitted, I see Im going to have to stick these little crappy reflectors on somewhere, is that right? that you have to have them on the rear? Its gonna look PANTS

AH, I believe I dont have to have reflectors after all on "E" approved lights which these new ones of mine are, only "TUV" where you should have rear reflectors, so Ive found out.
Even though they totally look silver on the pic I posted, its only a chrome tint, and the red shows through when light hits it.

I'd like to see the origional "E" approval Certification for the Silvatec Lights..

The clusters themselves are standard and would pass the "E" approval test, but now with a "silver" coating applied to the lenses it obscures the reflector.. and therefore they do not reflect sufficient light and as such you will be commiting an offence..

See the MOT testers manual regarding this issue HERE

At the bottom of the list it says this..

Effects of Paint
Some reflectors may be rendered inoperative by being painted over, this is a failure for obscurity.

The MOT station or the police for that matter do not check to see if the light are "e" approved anyway.. It is the operation of the lights/reflectors they are interested in..

Anyone remember the very first sets of Lexus lights that appeared in the UK.. They were not "E" approved as they had no reflector built in to them.. These lights were supplied with a pair of reflectors that you were supposed to screw onto the rear of the bumper.. No one did mind U.. They were then modified them by having the reflector built into the Brake light lense..

Note that if someone crashes into the back of your car at night they will have more than sufficient grounds to claim from your policy.. And you could find yourself in hot water with the old bill..

Anyway all I am saying are that they are not totally "Legal" and could be classed as dangerous without the reflectors.. So be careful out there
