I looked into it, it is expensive to get done, more garages sell it now than used to (still not many though), I didn't go for it due to not having a spare 1.5k floating around anywhere. Also there are a lot of cowboy garages that will do it cheap but chances are it will leak so you need to pay the high prices as i guess you get what you pay for.
Also the car will still run on normal petrol so you wouldn't get stranded looking for a garage that sells Autogas, i reckon it would be worth doing if you had the money to do it and would probably pay for itself in a year or so. That's all i know but i'd be interested to hear how you get on if you decide to have it done

Engine is only 80% efficient on gas, and you can only fill the tank 80% full. So to get the equivalent range of (say) a 10 gallon fuel tank, you need nearly 16 gallons of gas tank.
The "proper" way to get economy is to get a diesel. If you want to drive around in a sporty little number, you have to take the pain of the fuel costs.

I thought that depended on the type of autogas system you had installed in the car and the new ones could now do the same as normal petrol, but i am probably completely wrong and was only thinking what i wanted it to be like

Yay, Diesel rocks
Give it another few years and diesels will be sporty (if still loud!) For less than £13k you can get a 180bhp diesel with over 300lbft torque which will beat the pants of every standard Pug apart from the 180. OK it's a Skoda Fabia but the engine is the same in many Golfs, Seats, Audis etc.
And Pug are allegedly bringing out a 136bhp 206 GTi diesel in the summer. I reckon that could quite easily be modded to 170bhp+ for less than a grand.
My friend got chipped (tuned) Bmw330d with sport suspension and some skirts and so on... That's very fast diesel indeed. What about Skoda Fabia RS, that's pocket rocket diesel
if the gas tank was gonna go in the boot then i would say you may have problems selling the car as with roof down you will end up with even less boot space.
also with the cost, unless you are gonna keep the car for years and years then you may not make your outlay back as i don't expect you to get it back at resale time.
might be wrong but i also heard the government are putting the duty up on gas at the budget as it isn't as e/f as they thought it was
