I have had my 206cc for a year now and haven't really had any problems at all apart from squeaky brakes which were fixed on the 4TH ATTEMPT by replacing my brake pads.
Anyway on th 19th Dec 2003 i had and accident, i spun on some black ice and totally buckled my passenger side wheels, so it wasn't driveable. The AA took it to Goodfellows in Aldridge, walsall as i requested them to. My insurance payed for the work to be carried out to put it right.. i was due to pick it up on the 21st Jan 2004. I left work and had a phone call to let me know that i couldn't pick up my car because they needed to do a alignment test on it and it was going to take another week. I told them that i didn't mind as long as it was rigt when i got it back...
I had a phone call on 29th Jan 2004 to let me know that it would be ready for collection on 30th Jan 2004 and i was delighted.
Picked up my car on the Fri night and proceeded to travel along the Motorway. My car did not feel right at all, everytime i excellerated my car veered to the right!!! i didn't even need to touch the steering wheel to change lanes, i was literally in the inside lane of the motorway and crossing 3 lanes without touching the wheel!!!!! I was also fighting with the wheel because if i let go i would have just gone into the central reservation!!
I called Goodfellows and they told me to bring the car in for a road test.. I took it in on the 3rd Feb 2004 the Tue after the fri i collected it. I took my boyfreind with me in case there was a problem. The 'Master Technician' came with us to look at the vehicle and took a look at it. I stressed that i was concerned that the wheels on the passenger side which had been dammaged had been replaced with new ones but they had left the old ones on the right which were part worn!! surely they should be swopped around??? The technician said that all he had done was replaced the damaged wheels??? ok???
My boyfriend went on a test drive with the 'MASTER TECHNICIAN' who drove the car.. he proceeded to tell my boyfriend that he felt the car pull to the right. When they got back the Master Technician went to speak to his manager and the manager came back and told us that there was nothing wrong with my car WHAT!!!! The Technician went on to tell us that all 206 cc pull to the right and what i was experiencing was TORQUESTEER!!!!! He said that he would take me out in another 206cc to show me!! I said well it didn't veer across 3 lanes of the motorway before the repair and that i wasn't interested in another 206 cc mine had the problem not another car!! The Manager then asked me what i wanted and i said "TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE IN A STRAIGHT LINE'! The Master Technician also asked my boyfriend if i was hoping that my car would have been written off!!! and that because i have been without my car for so long that it could be because i need to get used to it again!!!!
They have now told me that they will take it in for another alignment test on Fri 6th Feb 2004 just to put MY MIND AT REST!
I have recently spoken to my insurance about this who asked me if i new about the additional work that had to be carried out??? They had to send out my assesor again and a suplimentary estimate on the 28th Jan, 2 days before i picked it up!! apparently the wheel bearing and the shock absorbers had to be done.. I heard nothing about that this work had to be done and i am very worried that it hasn't been carried out because of the space of time they had to do it..
Could anyone advise me on what to do now. I know that they are going to say that my car is still fine after this test that they are carrying out on Fri is complete.. Where do i go from here when my dealer is refusing to do work that needs to be done My car is definitley not right!!! help
Advice needed help!!

Hi Aliy,
I'm no mechanic, but Torque Steer is supposed to be designed out of a car!
If a car has bad Torque Steer then it is badly designed and ALL the production models will have Torque Steer.
My CC IMHO does not have Torque Steer problems so nor should any other 206CC.
As for any other advice, I've not been in a similar situation so cannot comment, other than to say. Log everything that happens in writing and if thing don't go your way put things in writing to the garage/insurance company.
Good luck.
ps it's 'I accelerate'

Tell your insurance company that you're unhappy with the repair and if poss try to get the assessor out to you. It's complete twaddle that it pulls to the right like that - utter cr@p and it makes me quite annoyed at how they think they can palm you off with rubbish like that
The Pug monkeys did a really really bad repair on my car so I complained to my insurance company (Direct Line) who contacted the dealer and, as if by magic, they asked for my car back to fix the bits I was unhappy with.
So try your insurance company next and, if they don't help, go to another dealer for a second opinion. The first dealer, by law, has to be given the opportunity to fix their work (maybe even two opportunities) and then I think you have a case to go elsewhere and claim the money off them - although all of this should be handled by your insurers.
Good luck. Pauline
PS Yes, they did sort out my car after 3 trips!

Hi guys
Just to let u know what happened after i picked up my car on fri after it had, had it's Optiflex test. (just to put my mind at rest thats wot the Master Technician said!!) On Friday i dropped it off and was told to pick it up at 5.30pm...at 4.00pm i rang them up to see if it would be ready because i had to leave work early and i work in Birmingham so it is a bit of a journey and i just don't trust Goodfellows to have the car ready on time. I was told on the phone that my car should!!! be ready and to aim for 5.30pm because "listen are you ready for this", some minor adjustments had to be made to my car!! the car that was supposted to be fixed and apparently was nothing wrong with!!!!
I got to the garage and was told that it had, had a canber adjustment and that the tyres had been swapped around!! which i told them to do in the first place!!! And guess wot the MANAGER & THE MASTER TECHNICIAN were no where to be seen!! the office assistant handed the car over to me!
I got the car home and it was fine it wasn't pulling to the right at all... the only problem was they hadn't bothered to balance the tyres and the steering wheel was shaking at 90mph! So i just popped it into an ATS and they balanced the tyres for me. The one was out by 30grams and the other by 25grams!!!
I also spotted that they have left off the inner peugeot badge on my alloy wheel! And i am having another nightmare trying to get that back!! they can't find it and they never return my calls!
I will keep you posted!! I might just buy another one from another dealer, it would be so much easier!!

Hi Lyndon
My car is fine now apart from the inner badge which they left off the alloy wheel when i collected it! They can't find it and have had to order me another one. I am really annoyed because Goodfellows Garage is a 20mile round trip from my home and i had to firstly take the car in for them to check which alloy wheel it is (surely they should know this from their records!) and then now i have to go back again to collect it when it arrives!! (are they going to pay for my fuel??? i don't think so!!) I was told that they are only £2.50 + VAT so there shouldn't be a problem for me to pay that!! HELLO!!! they left the badge off in the first place! There is no way i am paying for this!! When i have collected this i will never be going back there again!!!!!!!!
:x
