Very worried about my new 206cc 1.6 Platinum Silver beauty which arrived on Sunday morning
with a few problems I might add. The car is Brand new import from France. (I know I get what I deserve)
I noticed a scratch about 2 inches long near the drivers side door handle which looks to be as deep as the lacquer, also the passenger window had a swirly scratch about 3 inches long on the outside (You can just to say feel it with your nail.)
My main problem with the car is the spanner symbol on the dash. When I start the car, 100 miles flashes and then the display shows my correct mileage. I have read some of the comments in the Forum about the spanner, that this is the service indicator, but after 100 miles? What the hell is going on? I have only done 87 miles in the dam thing!!! One of my friends has lent me their English handbook (Ours is all in French, Dealer has English versions on order and is sending one to us in the next 10 -14 days)
When the car has been started the Spanner symbol stays on all the time and the mileage then flashes to read
1.
MIN MAX
000000F
2.
MIN MAX
0_ _ _ _ _F
3.
_ _ _ _ _ _ F
These details are not in the English Handbook but are in the French book. I have tried to translate from French into English using Babel Fish and these are the results.
Level gauge of engine oil.
With the setting of the contact, the oil level of the engine indicates during 10 seconds approximately, after the information of maintenance.
1. Maximum
If the message confirms by the checking has the manual gauge, a surplus of oil can cause damage engine. To consult a point Peugeot services quickly.
2. Minimum.
Verifier the level with the manual gauge and completez it. The indication has been valid only if the vehicle is on a horizontal ground, driving A the stop for 10 minutes.
3. Default measures oil level.
The 6 segments flicker, they indicate a dysfunction to the level of the gauge level of oil. Risks of deterioration of the engine. Consult a point Peugeot service.
I have contacted the dealer who assures me that any local Peugeot Dealer will "Make Good" under the warranty (All the above), but I'm still waiting for warranty to arrive with logbook and Handbook etc.
Any advice with my problems will be very grateful.

Don't worry about the spanner, I didn't and I'm still going strong (TOUCH WOOD!). Yes, it was on mine too. Seems to be quite common as the details to get rid of it are on the Pugsportgti website (can't remember the address but... here's the text)...
To change the Service Interval
--- Switch off the ignition
--- Press and Hold the mileometer button situated to the right/bottom of the Rev counter
--- Switch on the ignition
The display will begin a 10 second countdown.
--- Release the button before the countdown finishes
--- The service interval is displayed
--- Each brief press of the button alternates the setting
--- When the required service interval is displayed, press the button for 10 seconds to confirm Zero Reset (Remove "Spanner" symbol)
Your Peugeot dealer will carry out this operation after each service.
However, if you carry out the service yourself, the reset procedure is as follows.
--- Switch off the ignition
--- Press and hold the mileometer button situated to the right/bottom of the Rev counter
--- Switch on the ignition
The display begins a 10 second countdown.
--- Keep the Button pressed for 10 seconds
The display shows [=0] and the service indicator (spanner) disappears
If none of this makes any sense whatsoever (sorry), it's cos it was in a 2 column format and I just pasted it in so PM me your email address and I'll email it over to you!

hi,
ours had the spanner symbol on the dash, it gets reset by peugeot after every service it is just an indicator!. As we had done few miles (1000ish) , it also meant that the mileage reset to zero after 999 miles so we realised it wasn't right added to the fact that the mileage stayed lit up even when parked! so we just reset it, the instructions for this are in your handbook.
In short you can reset it no probs and it might even cure a couple of other dash glitches when you do, after all it did with ours!!
hope that helps
