Booked a test drive for the rx8, next sunday. Been to the dealer, had a good look @ it:

1)NO spare wheel, not even a canister of "stuff to fill the wheel with" in case of a puncture like in my CC. the guy said you can drive ON THE RIMS if the tire is flat (or slashed). I told him they are mad.

2) plastiky bits on the exterior (next to the front arches, most of the back bumper)

3) interior nice in parts (lovely centre console with black clear plastic bits, front seat "back part" in silver) and not so nice in others (plastic trims all over feel CHEAP, definitely cheaper than the import Z i drove. The seats also, even with leather option, have got "rubber" sides :o .Doors feel solid, even the back ones. Now to the back seats........ the space is not much more than on my CC (and that means that for long journeys you can forget back passengers unless they are kids)

3) LOTS of cubby holes which is cool

4) too many accessories needed (stylewise) to make the car look better exteriorwise

5)back end does NOT convince me at all

6)boot fairly big

7) both versions available have the beefy version of the Bose stereo (6 cd in dash changer and so on)

ALL in all, to be honest, with the money you have to spend in accessories to make the car look "as it should be", the 22K (230hp) version ends up being most probably more expensive than a 24K 350Z version (which doesn't need all those bits to make look as it should look in the first place)

Unless the test drive blows me away next sunday, I'll stick with the 350Z for my future car...

We did that when we test drove the 206cc. Dead funny, the bloke was in the back with his knees up by his ears. Even funnier to see him in the rear view mirror- especially as it was February, we had the roof down and I was doing a ton up the dual carriageway. :rotfl:
He said "We normally ask customers not to do that." to which I replied "Well how are the customers supposed to know if they want it if they don't know what it'll do?" :firedevil:
It was a good hour with him in the back!
Just because you're paranoid, it don't mean they're not after you.

I wouldn’t bother test-driving the RX8. I was watching Britney Spears new video and noticed that her RX8 had squeeeeky brakes :?

I saw a Renault CC for the first time in the flesh yesterday. First impression is that the 307cc has something to worry about.
Bourj wants his ORANGE back!!!

i saw pics last week of the megane CC side view with roof down - looks like a square box.

i like the megane glass roof idea but the 307CC styling much more.

Was there something wrong with it? Ours does significantly more than a ton ;)

But on a serious note, salesman and potential purchasers have been killed on test drives before. So go careful out there.

i would treat myself to a 350z but a CC with 2+2 is impractical - a 2 seater is a no no

but derek do you need 2+2? Because i been thinking of getting RX8 but because of the Rear seat in CC can't even take an adult (Can, but will be a squezze). So why not 350Z ;) But it's just my opionion why i got 350Z.

Getting Between RX8 and 350Z been killing me. So now i bought two of them :P one is the Die Cast (RX8 1:18 by Auto art) and one is the Real Car (350Z)

Cheers

We've got two kids (9 and 12) and our only two cars are both 2+2s.

I'm sure they'll thank us for it when they're older -- it's got to be a bit different from all the other kinds being ferried around in 4x4s, MPVs and other miscellaneous Euroboxes :D
