The 307cc - A Personal Review

Paul Cooper - Owner 100

The views contained in this article are the personal opinions of myself, and should not be quoted as authoritative. I am not a motoring journalist and I drive mainly on business, with a reasonable percentage of mileage for leisure. On average I motor 38,000 miles per year, both urban and rural driving.
The basis of these notes is mainly in response to Lyndon, to give a comparison between the 307cc and the 206cc. To give some idea of my 206cc pedigree, I have owned two, and completed a total of 75,700 miles in 26 months in them. This review is being written after 10 days of driving and 980 miles on the clock.

The 307cc is a much larger car to drive than I had expected, and is more a saloon car, with a convertible option. Where the 206 was a fun car to both drive and look at, the 307 is quite different. It feels more stable on the road, and is both considerably quieter and more comfortable. The handling is good and in contrast to “funâ€

nice report, sounds as good as i thought it would be from my test drive.

i was more or less ready to place an order next week for the 180 model, with special paint, cruise control and a few acessories. the cost would be £21,950 plus the accessories then i had a quick look at auto express at work today when i saw a 307 on the front..............

the 307 is getting a mild facelift next year and now i'm very unsure as i don't want to pay £22k for a car which will soon be out dated.

i'm gonna find out if the CC is getting the same changes and i can't see it not getting them or it will look out of place from the rest of the range. there is also going to be a 138 2.0HDi in the 307 so i want to know if this will make it's way into the CC range as I'm very tempted by that option.

now i'm very :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :?

A well thought out and extremely well delivered report. I've got almost 20,000 km on my 206CC (very little compared to your driving) and the car is going on 2 years old in Feb. I'm going to stick with my 206 for another year and then roll over to a 307.
Cheers

Found a new solution, get it washed at the Supermarket Car Park, while doing the shopping!
I suppose if all else fails I could do it myself, but that's where my lazy streak kicks in :!:

 I am afraid I have to report the first roof problem on the 307cc:!:
My graateful thanks for the team of 8 engineers from Warwick Wright in Chiswick who got me back on the road. Apparantly it was switch problem. I imagine this will be addressed double quick, and I will be seeing the Charters service people on Friday to report the problem on.
I will keep the Forum posted with developments. N :!: Now for a beer :lager:

It was the one thing that worried me about the news of the Mercedes roof. I have a few contacts who own Mercs and they all had many more problems with their roofs than the pages of this forum have seen. I suppose when you spent upwards of £40,000 you keep quite about the problems so you dont't look such a mug ;)
Any way I don't think it is major as problems go and it certainly doesn't leak :D

Roof has now been thourouhgly checked. It appears it may just have been a dodgy factory setting on one of the microswitches. Thanks to the beautiful sunny last two days I have had a chance to check the fix frequently. I don't want to speak too soon but it all seems fine again.
Isn't life great, I love my 307
