Eversham's customer support has been great thanks to their 2 year on site/1 year base warranty.

An engineer came and changed a CPU fan a year ago.

They came within 2 days again yesterday, told me the noisy PC was due to a fan but replaced all 3 for safety.

My PC has gone from a noisy wirring monster to ultra quiet - bliss!

They even replaced my old G-Force3 TI500 64mb video card (just in case) and fitted a new Radeon 9600 128mb card at NO COST, all under warranty! OK its not the top video card on the market but its more than sufficient to run the new generation games, and WAY better than my old card.

So if your looking for a PC with good customer support then Eversham fits the bill!

I'm no geek, but I like playing games from time to time. I'm half way through the MOHAA Spearhead expansion pack. Can't wait to tackle the new games, Call of Honour, Half Life 2, Halo, with my Radion video card.

Now the only thing needing updating is my Athlon XP 1900+ CPU.

I have an Asus A7V266-E motherboard so without changing it I can only upgrade as far as an Athlon XP 2600 CPU.

Trouble is to comply with my motherboard I'm going to need to purchase an XP 2600 CPU with 266 FSB Bus rather than the more popular 333mhz. Anyone know where I can purchase this CPU?

I'll then update my Bios online at the Asus website.

Robbie. :D

update the bios BEFORE fitting the new cpu otherwise it won't work.... also be CAREFUL and read every txt file on doing that, as doing it wrong could easily result in a motheboard ready for the bin.
for the processor, have a look @ dabs.com they might have the 266fsb version of the cpu you r looking for.
nice move the graphics card upgrade! if im not wrong the 9600 supports dx 9 (and all the new graphics eye candy that will ship with hl2, doom 3 etc) Games that are just about coming out now don't usually take advantage of dx 9 capabilities, HL2 was supposed to be the first one out, but we won't see it before march/april 2004 :(

Sorry Paul, I have no idea what you're talking about.

However, hypothetically speaking, if I did have the beta copy I would have probably spent 3 hours picking things up and watching the physics engine get eveyrthing perfectly right... I would also have spent ages trying to put lots of barrels on top of each other and playing with mattresses.

This is all hypothetical of course.

Robbie...Its EVESHAM...not 'Eversham'. I know this for a fact because my parents still live there....

Heres a dull fact for you...Evesham computers, now a firmly established well-respected company started out in life as one guy who used to sell computer games for the Commodore Vic 20 and ZX Spectrum in the local video shop 'Crown Court' in Evesham. The games used to retail for 99p. Would be interested to see how much that company is worth now from such humble beginnings. Incidentally my dad is in the steel fabrication building and was the site foreman on the indstrial unit built for Evesham computers.

Right...WAKE UP!!!

Er...there ya go, told you I wasn't a Geek CB! :D

Thanks guys, the Radeon 9600 does support DirectX 9.0. It was raining outside and pretty gloomy, as I couldn't be bothered to work anyway I loaded DX 9 with Halo this afternoon. The game seems to play fine with high resolution and frame rates.

I had checked dabs.com the other day for the CPU upgrade I'm after, no joy at the time, plenty of AMD XP 2400 socket A 266 Thoroughbred/Athlon Model 8's but no XP 2600 266's. only 333's. Trouble is the 266FSB XP2600 is not very common on the market and although AMD processors are performance rated, most people prefer the CPU with faster frontside bus of the 333mhz. No luck in Micro Mart either.

PS. I will tread very carefully when flashing my Bios, ;)
