can anyone offer advise as to how i should go about selling my 206cc 1.6 in platinum silver ?

i am told by the dealers that i should ask £14,300 given that the car is just over a month old with only 800 miles on the clock it has a high spec including auto lights and rain sensing wipers, 2.0 ltr 16" alloys, metalic paint and sportpack. all in all it cost £15,800 from a uk dealer, not imported.

i tried auto trader and only had timewasters call.

any advise would be much appreciated

Hi Dexter

I put my CC in the Thames Valley Auto Trader.
It was an offer where you pay for two weeks and get the third free. The first week I had a load of calls from companies wanting to sell my CC at a 'low' price. One person called to come and see it but never showed - I was fuming.

The second week was quiet but on the first day of my last week i had a few calls and sold it a few days later.

Keep trying with the trader - U might have to lower your price as many people would rather spend that much money on a brand new import.

Hope this helps

Chris

Why are you selling it?

Julia,

I think dexter's saying his alloys are the 16" ones that are normally fitted to the 2 litre, unless I've read it wrong too - which, given the day I'm having, is very possible ;)

Dexter still hasn't said why he wants rid of it....
HOPEFULLY we won't be seeing it in the "rejection section" anytime soon!!

yes.....

it is a 1.6 with the 2.0 ltr alloys, so the car looks great, i dont like the 15" alloys on the 1.6.

also, i really toyed with the idea of having the 2.0ltr car but the difference in performance is minimal, i think 1 second slower 0-60mph. and the insurance was less only £650 fully comp and it is much more economical. finally, i live in central london, so not much chance of going fast here. although i think the 1.6 is still fast enough !!

also, please dont forget, can someone tell me how to do a link to my photo on here ?

thanks guys and girls !

sorry greg, did not see your question while i was replying to the other posts.....

i see many of you ask why i am selling, well its a long story so here goes, i ordered the car in november 2001 and it was delivered march 2002. unfortunatly, in January subsidance was diagnosed to our flat and is not covered by the insurance, simply i need to sell to pay for the work to be done.

nothing wrong with the car at all, its perfect, i love it and will be very sad to see it go. my only comfort is that once all renovation work is done to the flat, i can think about getting another one.

That's bad luck....
Hopefully you will get a buyer shortly (i'm sure you won't find it too difficult to shift).
Good luck with the flat renovation.

"a 1.6 with the 2.0 ltr alloys"

I've got a 2.0 with multiplex windows.

Dexter - speaking of valuable input, have you tried Loot? used to sell cars there (you still have some time wasters tho- can't get rid of those sort of people wherever you go) but it's free and worth the 2 minute phone call- re: your comment on those annoying little commission only parasites that often call up early on a Saturday morning only to pose as buyers before launching into a hundred reasons why you should sign up to sell your car with them -I'd add the "strictly no canvessers" to the bottom of your add - ought to be a law against that lot !!

Now the waiting list has died down I suppose this reduces the incentive for some people to want to jump the queue by buying a nearly new car privately for little more than the asking price but if it was my Pug I'd try £13995 privately now summers here (I've been offered £13500 from my Peugeot dealer for an October 2001 SE with leather).
