Anyone been bowling recently?

Bit of a debate here going on........

When you score a strike on the first go there is an X comes up and it's called a strike (obviously)!

However if you knock 'em all down on the second go or get some first go and knock the rest down on the second go there is a / symbol that comes up. I've always known this as a half strike but some people are daring to argue with me....... including the machines at the Megabowl!

What would you say this was called?

Oh no I'm outnumbered. But I thought the word spare came up on the monitors along with the / if youknock 'em all down with the second ball

I've asked a man who knows and I am reliably informed that a 'spare' is also known as a half strike - I quote:

"Spare: A 'spare' (often called half-strike in England), "
