Has anyone hit the rev-limiter in their 206?

Just wondering at what kind of RPM the rev-limiter stands at? And also -- does it keep the car at those revs .. or auto-drop it down by 500 rpm?

(Had a hire car Astra and the rev limiter -- when hit -- rather then keeping the car at set revs, kind of forced it back down to the 5000rpm mark).

Think I hit it in my CC a few times, can't remember exact RPM though - was very near the red line as I remember. And yes it does bounce back a bit before letting you accelerate again.

The GTi hits the limiter pretty much spot on the 6500rpm red line.
It's a pretty hard cut when it hits...really spoils a good trafic light grand prix if you hit it too hard!

I have hit the limit a couple of times in the cc and tried to in my 306 Dturbo (only revs to 4500 rpm if your ;ucky) but in my works Astra I had the thing up to 5600 rpm before the cam-belt snapped

Once. Can't remember what it did coz I changed gear almost immediately anyway.
