Hi,

My sister has an 02 206CC. Yesterday we went to open the roof & it stopped part way. Initially the boot was in its usual fully opened position, but it quickly sank towards the roof. It has now gotten to the stage where the roof is trying to rub against the boot:

The manual only gives instructions for closing the roof manually from a fully opened position. The roof now appears jammed. We cannot lift the boot up, or the roof.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to what we can do to release the roof?

Cheers,

call peugeot assitance (AA) as it looks like that anything you or suggested on here will damged the roof or boot lid further :( :( :(

try phoning your peugeot dealer, there won't be anyone from the service department but they may know a little about what to do or can give you a phone a phone number of one of the mechanic's (unlikely)

can you see if there's oil in the boot area from maybe a burst pipe or something ??

looks like it's the dodgy microswitches again (common problem) as the computer roof brain doesn't know where things are or should be.

sorry i can't be of more help :(

have you tried opening it (or closing it) again with the switch? with the help of someone else keeping an eye on the roof and maybe helping manually, you might just be able to open/close it all.

I have tried everything I can think of:
The boot is jammed, so that cannot be opened further.
The roof is jammed, so it cannot be lifted any higher.
I have tried operating the roof switch. It just beeps in that annoying way & nothing happens. The windows remain functional.
Worryingly, it does not appear to realise the roof is in transit, & happily allows the car to be driven, with no errors whatsoever.

Have had a huge argument with Peugeot Assitance. Apparently the roadside assistance only covers the first year (the car is 14months old). They therefore wanted £250 membership, plus £300 callout, plus £xxx parts to sort the problem, irresepective of the fact that the car is still under warranty & has a significant fault.

Can you get into the boot area to reach the allen key on the driverside above where the blind comes out :?: if so insert an allen key into it and turn it anti clockwise( from memory), this should release the pressure in the system, so some one can hold the boot lid while two other people fold the roof forward to the shut position.
this should be enough to get you to a dealer.

peugeot assistance cover is only for the 1st year. like myself you would have had the option to extend for years 2&3 at £100 (think it just went up to £120) but if you don't pay for the option then you can hardly expect to receive the service.

the prices quoted to cover the call out are the very reason why it's advisable to have breakdown cover.

peugeot will fix the car under warranty but you need to get it there yourself.

strange, I called peugeot assistance (in italy) when I got the oil leak as I didn't want to drive the car to the dealer in fear of breaking something, and they happily sent out a towing truck to tow the car to the dealer... all that with the car 13 months old

A mechanic from the dealership came out, & managed to secure the roof. They have since taken the car away (again!) to be examined.

This car spends almost as much time having its roof looked at as it does being driven... :x

Yup. Although the dealership dared to say my sister was 'cheeky' for expecting them to sort it on a weekend. The fact that she could have been stranded anywhere seemed irrelevant.

I am quite sure it has, as every car does unfortunately. However, the dealer-experience makes a big difference as to whether problems are tolerable or not.

I will post the findings of the garage, but the outcome is inevitible; she is ordering a Mini at the weekend...
