I dont know which one to go for...
Well, it comes with the tyre weld anyway, so that part of the choice is easy. My view is, unless you need the boot for something else then it might as well have the spare in it, too.

Also, get a 206 cargo net. It only costs a few quid and is perfect for stopping the shopping and stuff rolling around the boot.

It all depends on how you feel about not having a spare. Personally, I didn’t like the idea of driving with a tyre full of goo if I had a puncture. Sods law has a lot to play in this of course, if I were to get a puncture it would be miles from anywhere and my can of stuff wouldn’t work properly, and I would only have a puncture in the first place because I haven’t got a spare.
Anyway it worked; I bought a space saver and haven’t had a puncture. :D

Agree, first 3 month of my CC life i puncture twice, Ruin 2 tyres cost more then $AU600 and the 2 weld cant do much for a large blowout, all it does it leave a nice white trial as i drove off... got a space saver tyre nothing happen since.

Drove for a year without a space saver, get slow puncture. Got tyre repaired now carry space saver. It may take up some of the boot area but worth it IMO

Not if you put it in upside down, you can reclaim a bit of shopping space by sticking it in the middle.

If anyone is interested in a space-saver-rim (ie no tyre - you'll need to fit your own!) and local to me or coming to a meet, let me know as I bought an alloy instead and so have never used the space saver I bought (when tyres were hard to find hence rim only). I need to get rid of it as I'm told by Steve that he now needs the space in the garage (eh?). Cost me £23 so it's yours for a tenner or lots of beer :D

You could always do what I did.....

1) Get arsehole to reverse into you in car park.
2) Get car in for repair but 'forget' to give them your locking wheel nuts.
3) Tell them it's too far to drive to take them so arrange for new alloy to be put in boot for you to fit yourself........

Voila! Spare alloy!

Might be a bit of a hassle though!

Oh and space saver  drove standard 206 on a space saver, was in tears by the time I got home........ bloody car was actually TIPPING round corners. I see the narrowness aspect but should it really have a smaller circumference?!

vanda,
i tested mine out seem to balance fine, on back wheel though (since steering and front drive so that would make a bit of different?) but diameter seem to be the same.

i used a space saver on my last 206 and it was fine although it was on the back which was probably better. it said not to go over 70kmph but as we use miles i took it to mean 70mph  and it was fine.

if i want a spare alloy i won't use vanda's method - think there must be easier ways :D

I will definately be getting a spare tyre when my warranty runs out and peugeot are no longer liable for towing/accomodation/hire car any more, while on the subject does Peugeot give you Peugeot Assistance membership for free with your car during warranty in the UK if so, have you ever used it? did they do a good job?

I have never had to use it but would like to know how good the service is as without a spare tyre I am relying on Peugeot Assist alone and If their service is anything like the Dealers repair jobs it is not encouraging, allthough I imagine that they just farm the jobs out to local agencies.

Any feedback you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Clarelee,
I use it twice on the 2 occassion i blow the tyre, (syndey AU, sunday evening) when call the number on the card reach office in brisbane, and yep you right, they just contracted a local tow guy (15min after call) and take a look at the car then tow it to peugeot service of my choice, also give me a free taxi ride to where i wanted.

Thanks Huu for the reply, It sounds like they aren't too bad if its only a flat, 15min is a fairly impressive response time also.

So I would guess that since they aren't from Pug they would not be able to deal with a failed roof closure or something specific like that.

I am still wandering if the overseas owners have the assistance also, I haven't seen this mentioned in any posts, but I guess that they don't have the reduced warranty period scam like Australia (20k instead of 30k) which I am told is only because they think Australia is a dusty environment which is crud, I can't see our capital cities being any more dusty than most other around the world but that is another topic which I shouldn't get started on.
