Probably a really simple and obviosu question

Can I take my 206 (with roof up!) through a car wash safely?

Or is it going to mess something up or squirt water through the seals or something!

:?: :?:

Sorry -- I'll ask some dead technical question about synthetic oil and is it OK or something next time ;)

you are joknig right ???
take it thruogh a car wash and it'll ruin the car. Theres no such thing as a soft brush car wash. Those things WILLdamage ya paintwork.
The best thing to do is do it manually or if you cant be bothered find a place that does the job by hand (oo-err missue)

Paul's right, pugs don't have the most resilient of paintwork anyway.
The brushes in a car wash will flay the paint off the panels!
Just because you're paranoid, it don't mean they're not after you.

Funny story about car washes!!! On Tuesday I got rid of the bloody crap ford Ka and got my car back, had to give it back clean though so took it through the car wash.....

.... Was sat there, have always hated the things, heard it go overhead, saw it going round the back

 Vanda suddenly realises that she's not took the ariel off the roof!

So after a few seconds hesitation of what to do I drove off leaving the car wash to clean an invisible car!

Word of warning tho - if u do wash yr car please give us all advance notice, cos whenever I wash ours a strange phenomenon normally occurs afterwards....

and as for car washes - don't do it. on past cars i have on occasions used car washes and the swirl on the paint work is very very evident.

now i either wash the car by hand or leave it dirty - 18 months old and not a mark doing that - i also use a new sponge each time.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with car washes, but try to avoid following a really dirty 4x4.

I would waste my time worrying about the brushes scratching my precious paintwork (like you other mother hens). However something tells me that
a) the layer of c :censored: p on my cc was doing more damage
b) the hedges I regularly have to jump in scratch it
c) rather than use tarmac, they spray the roads round here with tar and chuck stones on top- nice sound of stones hitting your car every time someone drives past you..

I think brushes are the least of my worries!

By the way if you forget to remove aerial, it just makes an unsettling "twanging" sound, but stays in place and still picks up a signal!

No leaks to date, but now I am tempting fate! :(

What do you know about cleaning cars cotswolds? i bet you've only ever done yours once and that was to take your photo! ;)

My cc gets washed by hand weekly all summer, and the occasional 'hand job' if i am in leigh on sea. It goes through the mechanical wash (ARC) twice a year, once mid summer and once mid winter. I would probably prefer not to go mechanical at all but you need to really to get all the sh1t off the bottom, etc.

You could always buy your own pressure washer, we have one and they are great for getting the sh*t off the bottom!

That's utter rubbish I have cleaned my car at least 5 times since I bought it in Nov 2002 (2 bucket jobs, 1 pressure wash, 2 car washes).... and I have even waxed it with Mer twice!

Granted one of those car washes was so you guys (and my office colleagues) would quit bit**ing about the state of my car.

Regarding the aerial, it was the blow drier thingie rather than the brushes that bent it back....
