Took my 206cc (Registered June 2003), Purchased from Availablecar Derby. into Dixons of Mansfield for its 6000 Mile Check up and some warranty work today (Sat).
On arriving at the service desk, handed over the service book, when they saw it was an import (Service book is UK Version and carries a selling dealer stamp Calais Nord Peugeot)..
They said, sorry the Warranty is not vaid because you don't have the original invoice from CalaisNord to the Selling dealer in the UK.!!
This is Insane, The car has a service book with a 2 year Pan European Warranty, but Dixons Mansfield refused to carry out the 6000 mile check unless I paid for it.
I had little choice as the car has done 5980 miles and I am doing a 600 mile trip on Monday and was told by them that unless it was done now it would invalidate any future warranty (That they are not honoring anyway).
Hads anyone had a run in like this with an Import, did your servicing dealer ask for the original bill of sale between the importer and overseas dealer!. Availablecar say it is a private document and they don't supply iy.
So my only options are to try and find out if this is
A: Dixons Mansfield being SH**s
B: A Genuine Problem in which case I will need to insist on the Bill of Sale from Availablecar or Sue them for breach of terms (Selling a car without a valid warranty)
Tried to talk to Peugeot but nobody there on a Sat and I need to resolve before Noon as that is when I pick car up from Dixons and they want the money then!

They're just trying to get out of it, I assume you spoke to someone important and the just the services receptionist who was on a power trip?!?!
As for the 600 mile round trip you should have been okay. I was in a similar predicament with a trip to Edinburgh and back and I was told I could go up to 1000 miles over before it invalidated anything.
Can't help with the paperwork think as I got it serviced at the dealers I bought it form.
I wish you luck, but have heard Dixons are shit....... dunno where you live but you might want to try further afield......DONT do Nottingham either!

No it was the Service Manager, (Bit of a grumpy S.O.B)
Managed to speak to the Dealer Principal at Availablecar, who went down to the local Pug dealer that does all the PDI's for them,
They manually entered it onto the Central Peugoet Database, so is now registered with PUGUK, and Dixons agreed that they would now carry out the work,
Resolved but a load of agro that in honesty could easily have been overcome by Dixons!.
Anyway they are going to do the work

Loose Carpet in Drivers Footwell
New Weld on Vibrating Manifold
Air Vent on Centre Console collapsed.
So should be a happy driver again soon!
but think in future I will go to Chesterfield (Same Distance, and they seemed a lot more helpful on the phone)..

Hmm,
Not sure about other peoples problems with them, but on this occasion I must admit they did sort out All the problems,.
1: They Changed the Brake Pads even though they were not squeaking at the time, said that there was a new type available and were fitted under warranty
2: They refitted the Carpet in the footwell, seems to be some extra clips in there holds really well now
3: They fixed the faulty air vent (all the blades that direct the air had fallen out), was expecing to have to wait for them to order a part for that, but they managed to fix it
4: As for the Manifold they say there is a faulty weld, so will need a 4 hour fix too long for a Sat AM job, so booked it in for later next week and will do it then
So all in all once the "Attitude" over it being an import and the paperwork was supplied they do seem ot have got on with it and done the jobs..
The attitude in there generally stinks, One salesman even stopped me on the way out after hearing the conversation and said "What do you expect buying an import, if you are not going to support UK dealers why should we even to help you". In a really sarky tone.
Well there is no way I will be putting any sales business there after that comment thats for sure

Avaialbecar are not a PUG dealer so they cannot enter it intot he PUG system, it is something that needs to be done by the PUG dealer when the car is first taken to themOr easily overcome by availablecar doing this in the first place?
Under a 2001 EU Directive there is no need for a customer to provide this documentation, but is seems PUG and Ford are the only manufacturers that ignore the directive and allow dealers to be pedantic about having the proof.
From what I have found out (Phoned a good selection of dealers around the UK today), about 1/3 of them require the original invoice the other 2/3 will enter it into the system without it,

yeah don't get me started about dixon peugeot
yeah the service manager (Lee) is a complete waste of time,although he as helped once when the seat rails broke and they fixed it the same day
dixon peugeot need a real good kick up the arse to get things done,sometimes they even do them correctly
Vicky, glad you've got a good outcome after all the hassle and yes the manifold is weekday job to sort as i've had mine done

I just think it's not unreasonable to expect them to phone pug & get it done before they even hand the car over. I have heard a lot of people mention problems with cracked manifolds which is concerning, could someone please give me more details on what to look for, is it a fault that is unmissable when it happens or is it more subtle? if the latter is the case please let me know what to look for as mine looks and sounds good so far but I would hate to get landed with this after the warranty expires.

Take a look in the problems section under Other - there are loads of references in there (I have had mine replaced twice).
Problems tend to be noticeable around 2-3.5K revs - sometimes it can just be the plastic engine cover rattling (known problem on the 2.0 engine)

my noise appeared about 2800rpm and thought it was the engine cover but it turned out to be the manifold.
i now have the same problem again so it will be one of the two again :rolleyes:
i'll get my dealer 'ARNOLD CLARK' to fix it once they decide to eventually contact me about my current complaint with them.
