How much hassle is it to have a 6000 mile service???

Anything related to the 206CC

Just had CC booked in for her first 6 month/6000 service. I expected it to be a little longer than the 20 minutes I was originally told as I wanted them to sort her squeaky brakes and fix the faulty oil level indicator too.
They had her for the day (no big deal as they gave me a courtesy car). Collected her - all ok so went home.

Then I got a call from them to apologise for the fact that they had forgotton to give me back my locking wheel nut thingys (I suppose I should be grateful that they realised this) so I had to drive back to the garage to collect them (as compensation they let me go into the workshop and personnally bo**ock the poor guy who was at fault - I told him that if he did it again it would be his nuts in the bag!) - all said in good spirits of course!

Thought the hassle was all over until hubby tried to drive me home from a hard morning's shopping the next day using his key. The door would not unlock so I used my key - hubby then put his key in the ignition and she wouldn't start - computer said there was an imobiliser fault. So called Peugeot Assistance (who did not even know where Bracknell was and were totally thick). Waited ages for them to turn up - in the meantime hubby suggested that we lock/unlock her with my key and then use my key to try to start her again - miraculously that worked and we were able to drive home - (somehow that re-booted the system).

Next installment: I call the garage to tell them what has happened and it turns out that they re-programmed my key when they fixed the oil indicator - that meant that hubby's key is no longer useable - honestly - how stupid - dont they think about the 2nd key when they do these things??

To top it all - its going to take at least half an hour to sort this out (longer than my original service!!) and they cant fit me in for 2 weeks!!!!

So beware everyone - learn from what's happened to me and make sure you check with the garage that they have sorted everything out if you have similar fixes done.

The good news is that I dont have squeaky brakes any more - how fab is that!!!!

What a nightmare Flo!
Which garage was it? Don't tell me Charters of Camberley?

As for the squeaky brakes - mine were fixed for all of a few days and are now worse than ever!

Hope all gets sorted soon
Julia :D

Yes - it was the Fimley/Camberley branch - although I have to say their staff have been really lovely and a very good laugh (just not 100% switched on when it comes to fixing cars!)

Hi Pauline - yes I was partaking of a little retail therapy inthe Peel Centre - you should have come up to say Hi.

Hi Derek - I'm not the type to take it lying down (well, sometimes maybe) so when I got home last night - after discovering ANOTHER problem, the auto headlights have packed up and CC no longer "pings" when I open the door with the keys in the ignition, so I phoned the Service desk and they were great - told me to bring her in first thing this morning. Got there for 8am, they sorted everything out on the spot straight away. Out within half an hour - all tickity boo

Seems they are not so bad after all (watch this space...)

see you all
Flo

Thanks for the word of warning about the Camberley dealer.

Are they better than Wokingham Motors?. (We have no experience with either dealer)

We live in Bracknell, so we could use either Camberley or Wokingham, but our baby is due for its 6000 mile service soon, and we want it looked after nicely;)

Cheers

Hi Dr Feelgood!
I was not totally impresed with Wokingham when I visited them back in March when I was deciding who to buy my CC from. I have to admit that, despite the recent hiccups with Camberley, they have been very courteous, apologetic and I would be happy to go back there again. Ask for Richard on the Service Desk - he was very switched on and proactive.
Good luck with your baby's first 6000 mile nappy change!

Will look out for you in the Bracknell area - what colour is your baby?

It is sometimes a catch 22 situation.
I have had bad dealings with Camberley, Reading and Wokingham but then other times they have been ok. (Not outstanding)

Haven't had to deal with Camberley Service Dept for a while (touch wood)- everytime I go in there they seem to have a whole re shuffle of staff.

I will look out for you too! I am in the area!

Hi Doc, I'm local too :D At first I was thoroughly impressed by Camberley but then, for my 6k service I got a dent on a wing and for my 20k they bashed the driver's door against a wall  I'm gonna go to the AA service centre for my next service - my warranty's up so what the heck!

Thanks for your posts, it sounds like they are about as good/bad as each other. :?

I will try Wokingham and let you know how they do at the end of the month.

Cheers :D
