this was a feature that was not meant to have appeared on the 307.

It was originally meant to be included on the 307CC. It was thought to be a good idea as the heat from the fire would dry the interior, as most CC's come with leaks

Yep I saw it and know people with 307's who should have been warned before they bought them!
Good ol' Peugeot

Maybe i'm missing the point here, but wouldnt you have to be SERIOUSLY STUPID to have this happen to you? Anyone who has ever driven with their wife/girlfriend and swapped seats or the wife/girlfriend gets out of the car, leaving the engine running and then returns will know that when she turns the key with the engine already running it makes a rather loud, horrible 'something is going drastically wrong in the engine bay' noise. Any one who hears this noise and continues driving is surely an idiot!

Always wondered wy cars let women turn the key once the engine is running?!? I mean, we all know how crappy Fords are and yet even the company mondeos have all had something to stop you doing this (i only know this because when the heaps of sh1t break down you have to turn ignition all the way off and then back again to try to start it  )

I and a few others on here had a recall regarding the ignition housing on their CC's. Could this be the same problem!! I have a multiplexed CC and don't they have a lot of common parts with the new 307??

No. The ignition barrel sticks in the 'start' position so the starter motor is permanently running but I think the solenoid disengages. You can't hear the starter motor spinning over the noise of the engine. It would be different if it returned to 'normal' coz then you *would* be stupid to turn it back again.
