Has anyone upgrade the Alarm/Security?

:rolleyes: Just curious to know what the security is like on CC's. Has anyone upgrade theirs from Cat 2 to Cat 1?

Not sure what it would achieve unless you wants lots of toys and extra electrical features (eg boot release from alarm remote, auto start etc.).

In terms of insurance no difference usually between Cat 2 and Cat 1. In terms of alarm features (to meet the standard) theres very little (but not going into it here check out thatchams web site). Either way if someone wants to nick it then they'll have it

Only thing that immediately springs to mind as poor on the standard security is the inclusion of ultrasonics instead of a radar sensor which means that theres no interior security with the roof down (car has to disable the sensors or it arm's the entire world

). Could be worth investigating if a "propper" sensor could be added aftermarket to replace the ultrasonics.

Also be aware that use of some feature will remove the alarms thatcham rating eg. Black Jax anti hijack on Clifford alarms.

Im not gen'd up on new cars :rolleyes: , do alarm upgrades cause warrenty issues, anyone had any experience??

Last car was a Fiat Stilo Arbath which only had an immobiliser as standard. I wanted to fit the autowatch alarm which works from the stanard manufacturers key fob for the central locking as an upgrade. Fiat were OK about it basically said the warranty remained except for the immobiliser and central locking (as they had been modded).

Peugeot have been fine to date about my suspension mod. even said they'd help out if they could with suspension failure too

Ask your local dealer (no point in asking Peugeot UK as they won't put anything in writing

) it will be the dealer you'll be going back to with warranty issues after all.

Yep I got a clifford and I think it's great

But whether it is necesary or not, I don't know - I only got it cos (1) mine's an import and they told me it wouldn't have an alarm (which it did!) and (2) I'm paranoid - a guy at work was carjacked so I use blackjax (but don't tell my insurers eh!). Shout if you want to know more...

Oooh, I got a story for you

I've got internal and external proximity sensors so if anyone goes near it, it chirps (LOUDLY!). I couldn't figure out why one sunny Saturday it kept chirping. Then I realised I'd left my mobile in the CC and, when the phone tried to check to the network, it was giving out microwaves and setting of the chirps! So I could get another mobile, leave it in my car and then, when I've had a mad day shopping, just ring my car to find out which floor of the multistorey I'm parked on

The first Clifford exterior sensors on the Concept 50X (older than yours Pauline you'll be pleased to know) went off in heavy rain too!!

It used to annoy my neighbour no end
