 I don't wont the CC anymore. :(

Basically, it all started with the Mrs's wanting a convertible.
To be honest, we hardly ever put the roof down unless it was really nice and now I realise it's just not worth it in this country.

I think the car is generally uncomfortable, slow from the start and the handling is rubbish, steering column is too high (for me anyway), pedals are way to close for my liking, stupid pillar thing under the steering column that keeping gets in my way... I could go on but you've probably heard it all before from me or others.

I've had it from new (March this year) on finance. It’s Black, 2.0ltr.
Seeing as I owe pretty much every thing on it, If I went to the my dealer and explained that I didn't want the car anymore but I’ll have that, say, '206 faster car' or whatever in exchange?? Is this possible?

I'm gonna lose out either way I look at it. The car has done over 6K already.

I'm stuck, confused and really need your advice and a different car! please guys/gals.

:( :( :( :( :(
Best regards,
Chris.

Firstly of course sell private .. this should get you a few extra thousand pounds.

Pay off the money you owe on the finance immediately (get new finance if you need it for the next car). Altogether you should only lose perhaps £4k on the price you paid (assuming its an english model -- a1 condition). Look in Parker's price guide this should give you a good idea of what to ask for.

Now go and buy second hand anything you want. Look for a car thats got 6000 on the clock. This way in actual fact you haven't suffered from depreciation at all -- as the target car you get hold of is the same age as the one you gave up so would have depreciated the same % amount.

Problem solved -- you've lost no money -- no big deal. (OK you may be £100 out of pocket or something small). You've ended up with the car you want.

It's only if you decide you want another brand new car then naturally you'll lose a load of money ... you can't put 6000 on a clock for free!

Hope this is helpful. A car with 6000 miles on the clock will be as good as new anyway and don't take the easy option of dealing with 'dealers' at all.

Brits

ps. You're not one of those sad 'got to be brand new' sorts are you? If so I'm unsympathetic!

Personally I would go into the dealers and lie.

I would tell them that the Mrs is expecting and it wasnt planned. Tell them that you still want a fats car but that the CC isnt practical. Tell them that you want a cracking deal on a part chop for you as once she has had the baby you will b back to buy a people carrier type car for the Mrs. Hint that you will only come back if they do you a very good deal now.

With any luck Mrs greedy sales man will see you as an easy sale later that he wont have to work at.

The fact tht you aint about to have a kid is no worries. Sales man wont ever ask you about it. If he does just tell him there were complications and he will feel too awkward to ask you about another new car.

Sneaky, but isnt that the game that car salesmen play with us - play back with them.

Or stop being so miserable, take it for a thrash with the roof down and make the most of it? ;)
