blaster worm virus

thats why some so called ' viri/virus/worms' ' weren't anything at all just scaremungering, hoaxes if you will

Ran a full system scan in safe mode in the early hours of the morning which found nothing. Am now able to get live updates from Norton and Symantec. No trace of MS Blast anywhere I can see. Am I now virus free?
I think the mug of warm lemsip I poured into my A drive last night may have cured it.

Fingers crossed.

u need to run tha fixblast really mate a smy norton missed it when it was uptodate.

there is somin to worry about as it can give ppl access to your machine.

have a look in ya logs and see if it is blocking anyting. mine been working over time. i bet if i let the firewall down i would be infected within minuites.

to show u how quick its happening after that last post i started viewing my firewall goings on and it has block somin on port 135. in other words thsi worm is tryingto get me. :rolleyes:

Dont drop your firewall, why have a firewall then turn it off when you are sat at the computer.

when you updated nortons did you use the live update or the intelligent updater on symantecs page, as the live update one can be a couple of days behind.

At the moment you will be infected in under a minute if you drop your firewall, on a security website i read the virus is taking on average 30 seconds to find a new machine to infect, scary stuff

although computer appears to be fine again at the moment, i got a horrible feeling its still there lurking.

i dont like running it when i am on the comp. i can see if anything really bad is gunna happen. i format often anyway so its not a problem if i get severly hacked.

if you cant update nortons then its nothing to do with the w32 blaster worm/virus from what I have read on symantecs page, you must have another virus, also according to symantecs page it only effects windows 2000, winxp, winnt and windows 2003.

everyone should calm down about this worm, providing you have a good firewall and regularly update your antivirus and windows then you should be ok, the people that should be panicing are the ones that are using pirate copies of windows as microsoft can shut it down through the updates

nutty slack i know the risks i am not computer illiterate. infact i know quite a bit. i just dont like running it while i am sat at the desk. ig i leave the comp on over nite i will turn it on.

the attacks are from the virus guessing my ip. thats how this worm works.

read up on it and u will see.

not true at all.

this virus is actually gunna stop u downloading the patch from microsoft ina few days. the 16th to be precise. it did disable both norton av and is on my comp. also disabled windows installer.

oh and i know that state the 16th but i know of ppl 404ing a few days ago on win updates.
