Just been told that my brake squeal which started to occur at about 3700 miles isn't covered by the warranty!!!!

I'm damned if I'm paying for them to be cleaned or to have new brakes!

My brakes were squealling and they were fixed (less noisy) no charge it only took them about five mins to sort !!

Just keep moaning and causing a fuss they will have to sort it out, its a brand new car!!!

I had one dealer tell me that my paint cracking was due to bird shite. (Am still waiting for a phone call over a week later from them - tut tut Perry's Peugeot Farlington)

I went to another (charters Alton - very good) and they had no issues with getting it fixed...

Just shows the level of customer care people give....

.... further to my last post...

I have been told that the squeal is due to the chemical replacement for asbestos having caused the noise when braking...

and guess what...

STILL NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY!
I am no longer furious... now I am INCANDESCANT !!!

It's 70 quid's worth of work that I just shouldn't have to pay for! And am I expected to pay for this work to be done every 4k miles???!

Thats bad news, hope you add them to the bad dealer list of naming and shaming.

As M275 says, its worth shopping around dealers to save your £75.

what does it say in the guarantee in the manual? I will have a look afterwards when I go out to the car. Personally though I would just go to a different dealer because I reckon anything wrong with a new car should be fixed.

Yep, definitely just try somewhere else. Everything that comes out of a car dealer's/service's mouth is: 1. meant to sound like they know what they're talking about, especially when they don't, and 2. designed to get them more money.

Sorry about the cynical generalisation but it's mostly true. Mostly...

Normally brakes are classed as wear and tear.. but this doesn't be a factor on a new car.. I think the dealer is being unreasonable if they think that brakes need replacing after 3700 miles..!!

If you get no joy I would threaten make a complaint to Peugeot.. and if still no joy then make the complaint and even take it further...

After paying so much for a new car you wouldn't think you will have to pay for anything else for a while...

You can tell them where to stick that £75!

It is blatent they are talking rubbish as my brakes squeaked (I have now done over 9000 miles) and I took it in no problem.
Again I asked why the squeak and they rambled on about asbestos replacement having ripples which causes squeaks.
Totally free and is part of the warranty.

Insomniac - do not pay it. Tell them to speak to my local dealer if you wish (Charters of Camberley)
They will then prove that I have had the work carried out for free!!!

Then contact Peugeot HQ to tell them that the dealership are making the rules up as they go along!

If you need any more back up let me know.

I have called Peugeot and they have backed up the dealership that this is categorically not covered by warranty.

On top of the engine rattle that I asked them to look at and the windows that don't go up on their own you'd have thought that they would have wanted to help make me more comfortable that the car was going to be looked after.

I have bought 2 Brand new Peugeots before my CC and due to this customer service, I very much doubt that I will be buying another.

If it is any help I can try (flash my eylashes!)and get my dealer to give me written confirmation that the brakes can be looked at for free.
Then you can pass to your dealer?
Just trying to help you out as I think it is disgusting.

Thanks for the offer! lol  If it would help I would even go get myself some stick on eyelashes to flutter at anyone who get get it sorted.

It's not particularly the money that bothers me, just that when you buy a car with a warranty things like this should not happen!

Thanks again for the advice everyone. If you have more stories or advice like this then it would be really helpful. I'm going to make sure I take this as far as I can.

I ain't no push over!
Let alone the fact that I work for one of the biggest media companies in the UK and love to put my view point across about things like this!!!!! ;)

I agree totally.
How do they reckon they can have one rule for one and one rule for another.
I am annoyed for you as they think they can get away with it so easily.
Little do many of them know that we have this very handy thing called a forum!!!
Keep us posted Insomniac!
