2001 Y, 206cc SE in Silver (SP grill, lexus lights, alu hoops, spare alloy etc.) 41,000 miles

Due to issues encountered with our CC, it was with a sense of sadness that I offered my car for trade-in against a Civic Type-R on Friday.

Marshall Honda of Peterborough very kindly offered me £6,500  , I asked that they verify this figure as it seemed unusually low - or rather, I laughed heartily and suggested that they double check their figures.

They came back 5 minutes later informing me that the offer was originally correct, although they would increase to £8,500 explaining that they use two car price guides in the Group, CAP and Glasses, and Glasses values at £3.5K more than CAP, and they worked strictly to CAP. I bid them farewell and have now received £10.5K trade-in value against an 02 Civic Type-R and am waving goodbye to my old CC (bits may be coming up in 'For Sale' soon !)

I'll keep dropping by to see what extra bits Derek has super-glued on, what Rob 'Arfur Daley' Moore is selling next and whether Lyndon decides that there ARE other colours, we know the future's bright, but it certainly isn't orange  (or firedance :D ) Thanks to all those who've helped me out over the past 2½ years, especially Lyndon for providing such an excellent forum and place for us to share ideas, news, problems, fixes etc. and to Rob and Robbie for selling me all ma bits.

I'm welling up !

Hi Stuart, I have just been given a quote for my 1.6 cc with 9,500 miles and GV51 2002 £11,500 against another convertible at a Vauxhall dealers mines Agean Blue, they don't want to keep it either they will give it to another Pug dealer near Gatwick and they made the offer.

sorry to see u go stuart but price doesn't seem too bad taking into account age and mileage.

some trade-in prices can be laughable as u found out. 3yrs ago i had a 306 at exactly 2yrs old that cost me £12200 and had about 37k miles. a citroen dealer offered me £4400 and another £4900.

pug gave me £6200 2 months later and 40k on the clock which was more what i was looking for.

it only takes someone gullible to take a crap price and the dealer laughs all the way to the bank.

I am never going to live that one down, especially after it was doctored (Lyndon has seen the post-paintbrush version  ).

Erm - our conversation the other night? I rest my case....I hope you do get what you're looking for for your CC...but hope you're not being a tadge optimistic :(
