IMHO:

Yahoo: I really hate the adverts so rarely use it

ICQ: Was good when it started, but it's too easy to get non-stop spam msgs now. Too many useless features make it too cluttered for me.

MSN: Unfortuantely the best - clean, unobtrusive adverts and doesn't get in the way.

For people not in the know, Trillian is a client that combnies all the messenger services above plus a few more. I was playing with it last week but it has very poor support for muiltiple users (if you install it in a dmoain environment, every user can see your contacts and it's a pain to sort it out!)
