Thumbing through Auto Express I came across an amazing piece of information which I fiind slightly astounding (and a lilttle unbelievable) for all us CC owners.........

Retained value after 3 years:
BMW 325 SE Sport - 51%
Merc C Class average out at - 58%
Porshe Boxster - 67%

all other ordinary cars average out at around 40%

206CC (1.6 & 2.0) - 60%   !!!!!

So in percentage terms theres hardly any cars that beat a 206cc for low depreciation

Thats good! will this be the same when the 307 etc come out though as most people I imagine will trade their CC for one of them.

I am not convinced that the 307CC is a logical step for a 206CC owner. I think the two cars appeal to slightly different markets. The 307CC has the obvious benefits of 4 proper seats but I think it loses out on the 'fun' appeal of the 206CC. We will see what happens on the depreciation front........anyway don't spoil my moment when I think my car will depreciate about the same as a Boxster!

Am I right in thinking the "new" Mini is one of the very best at retaining its value?

Yes a second hand one will cost more than a new one would. There was an 01 model for sale and it was £11995? dont know how many miles but it was expensive.
When we were looking for a new car we looked at the Mini and the cooper S a new one was about £14,000 a second hand one was about £16,000 and they were like rocking horse poo.

CB,

u might find out more if you buy auto express - only £1.60 or £11.75 for a 13 week subscription

the mini is actually only 47% and the Mini One D hasn't got a listing yet. u need to remember it's over 3 years so doesn't take into account early demand and supply issues.

CC demonstrators were selling for £19000+ in their early months.
