Anyone come across this problem before;

Recently I had a problem with the radio and speedometer. The volume of the radio would suddenly increase and at the same time the spee :o do dial would fluctuate wildly - from 0 miles to all the way round.

Peugeot replaced the radiop and dials. Now the radio works fine but the bad news is that the speedo still likes to dance about - but this time independent of the music.

The dealer says they have never come across this problem before - Anyone know different?

Sounds like a fault in the Speed Pulse unit,

This unit picks up the Speed from a sensor on the Gearbox Axle, and sends the pulse to the Speedo and the Radio, the Speedo uses the pulses to calculate the mileage and speed. and the radio uses the pulses to increase or decrease the volume as you speed up or slow down

Any interference on the system can cause the system to go eratic like you described, normally a dry joint or a faulty Speed Pulse unit, that would be the best point to get your dealer to start looking

The reason the radio may now be working fine but the speedo not working is that if as you say they replaced the radio then the new one may well have the Automatic Volume control switched off as a default setting, if you set it to on in the settings menu, then get the same problem as before then it is almost 100% the problem as described above
