You know when its summer - the local traffic plod are hanging out of their stationary cars with speed guns.

Just dispatched a 2.8 Z3 and was powering down from 145mph when I turned a bend and there he was, luckily I was back down to 70mph, I'm very selective where I put my foot down and then not for long and I know all the police observation points on the local motorway.

Ex-Met its true, would never have explained my way out of a 94 mph ticket coming back from Cornwall recently otherwise.

Paul, looks like you and me are gonna have to be sooo careful out there, damn these cars, they could so easily loose our licences for us

think I may have got caught on Monday on the A303 near Sparkford by two coppers on a bridge with a camera - fortunately I was slowing down cos the guy in front had obviously spotted them too - I was down to about 80-85. But if I do get done, it will be a fair cop - serves me right for going so fast on an almost deserted road!! I'm sure I read on here that the letter notifying you has to come within 2 weeks - is that the case? I keep checking the mail!!
If I'm not here I'm in Symi.....where the sun is always shining.....

You can so easily go 80-85mph safely on the A303 especially when its quiet, I regularly travel around 90-100mph, occasionally I spot the odd speed gun and I know where all the cameras are sited, I also notice they've put a couple of extra cameras on the A30 near where I explained my way out of a ticket

this story not really about speed guns, just speeding and the good lord jesus thinking about me on this day,so LUCKY

Was about 7 yrs ago when i was a young whipper snapper, knew it all, best driver in the world, you know the score.

had a Rs turbo(ex keith from the prodigy) at the time, all chipped up and stuff and was coming up the M11 at 1.30 am after seeing a show in london, saw a black senator in front, thought hold up,plain pig car, slowed down and followed, not see any blue lights and on pulling along side couldnt see a camera and the bloke driving only had a plain white shirt on,kool, not the filth so off i went.

well, the faster i went, the faster he wanted to go ,smart a race i thought, only at 137mph his blues came on.

on stopping on hard shoulder and him getting out he walked towards my car putting the shoulder lapels back on his shirt, turning him into a rozzer.

Bloody git i said,i thought u was police but not see a camera,i know he said,u not see it cos it was pointing side on,AT YOU,now get in the car and ill show you, wow, big flash moniter in the dash and a nice video of me,looking out of the left of my car at him,one hand on wheel, another on gearstick, speed in video,117mph,it was a well clear vidoe, like daylite

now for the good bit,and ill never know why but he let me off,Yes,thats rite, let me off,he made sure the car wasnt stolen and then just give me a rollocking and sent me packing.

Think that this incident done more good for my driving than anything else i know, yes of course i still speed,be lying if i said i didnt, but nothing over the top,had my one chance.

why cant all rozzers be like this, using a bit of noddle

PS..the girl i had in the car with me had never even spoken to a copper before, such a goody goody so when i got back into car and told her we were both off to the station to be strip searched and then arrested it didnt go down well, how to get dumped by totty in one foul swoop,oh well,

Don't get me started on traffic cops...

Actually, they've all been too busy round this way with using their new 'Automatic number-plate recognition [ANPR]' technology over the last month.

But you can bet when the novelty's worn off of catching people who drive without a licence/tax/insurance they'll be back to stopping anyone doing 2mph over the speed limit on perfectly straight, isolated stretches of road in good driving conditions.

i wish that i learned that 17 days after passing your test when 17yrs old you should not try and overtake a taxi in a 30 zone that then turns right without indicating as i'm over-taking

after up and down a few kerbs he ended up in someones front garden with the taxi being a write-off and my dads new fiesta smashed up

then i got done for careless driving by the police - the nerve of them
