Hey guys and gals! I've been lurking for a while now and have just taken the plunge - we pick up an 01 cc next saturday!!

I plan to install a sony minidisc head unit and changer, but since my car is (I am 99% sure) pre-multiplex, I have some queries - the wireing to make the existing stalk work seems quite clear, but I am confused re pre-multiplex cars - is it the PC9-123 I will need? :?

If I decide to have a sony remote "Darlek" instead (with more functions), any advice as to where to fit it on the steering column?

Do I need a "fitting kit / facia", or will the head unit cage slot straight into the hole left by the clarion cage?

Is the stereo plug n' play for power/ speakers, or do I need an ISO-type adaptor? If so, where can I get one? Can't find one on Edgeworthy's site!

THanks everyone - my Wife and I are looking forward to cc ownership!! 8) 8) 8)

David

I have a non-multiplexed car. And tried a PC9-123.

Don’t bother with the interface for the remote if it is for a Sony. I tried three and I had trouble with all of them. By all means try one. Buy one from Halfords, as they are normally good about taking stuff back. I ended up using a Sony HU and plug in remote "Darlek". I then changed the plastic surround on the steering column for a lesser 206 model without the remote hence no hole. I think it cost about £8. The remote fits nicely on the opposite side of the original, but be aware that if you get a HU with an infra red remote it will be out of range at this location. With my HU the IR remote receiver is on the left, hence I required the plug in style remote. You get loads more functions though.

Sony's 6-minidisk changer fits nicely in the glove compartment and you can get one for about £200 - £260

You will need a facia kit. Its just a plastic surround and cost me about £10.

I can't remember if I needed an adapter or not. I know one of our cars needed an adapter. But cant remember if it was the CC or not.

Thanks Darth - very, very cunning idea to get a surround withouth the control on it! did you have to remove the control stick from the steering column itself, or is it attached to the surround?

The stick is attached to the surround and unplugs just below/ left of the steering wheel
