The monkey is wrong (he told me to pres it twice as well, fool!).The dealer (monkey) told me to press it twice.
First press: sets alarm, locks doors, deadlocks doors
Second press: undeadlocks doors
Unless you have any reason to leave the car with deadlocks inactive, I suggest you only press it once.

The easiest way to be sure is to put the window down, lock the car (press once & try pulling the luck rod bit thing up. If nothing happens then deadlocks are on. If doors open & alarm goes off then deadlocks are off. Then try the same thing afyter 2 presses
I sometimes turn the deadlocks off if i am at the cashpoint with roof/windows down, so that at least i KNOW if someone tries it on rather than them just being stopped and leaning over into the glovebox instead

Yeah. Deadlocks are pretty much pointless with the roof down. They're meant to stop easy access - you can't get an awful lot easier access than no roof.I sometimes turn the deadlocks off if i am at the cashpoint with roof/windows down, so that at least i KNOW if someone tries it on rather than them just being stopped and leaning over into the glovebox instead
If only the glovebox was wired in to the alarm...

If you press it a second time immediately after the first time it undoes the deadlocks. If you wait a bit longer (several seconds) then it goes to car park finder mode, where the indicators flash and the internal light comes on - it's apparently so you can find it in a car park.So pressing the button again after the first time, causes all the lights to flash? Why would it want to do that?

Only at night though. It's completely pointless in the day unless you know roughly where you were to start with.
