My alarm goes off for no apparent reason. Once set the car stays peaceful for a coupe of hours and then goes off for no apparent reason. However, it may go for days without any problems. The Dealer has had the car back but say they can find nothing wrong (surprise, suprise!) and to come back with some more evidence for them to work on! That's difficult as the alarm activation seems so random.
I have tried using it with the internal sensors switched off....but the alarm still went off. In fact when I did this I could not turn the alarm off at all for a good couple of minutes. It silenced itself in the end.
Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone else experienced a random alarm activation? If they have, what was the remedy?

By the way, should the indicators flash when the alarm is going ? Because mine don't, I just get the noise!
How long will the alarm go for until in silences itself. When it silences will it stay off or just reset/reactivate (and go off again?)

Any help would be appreciated as my neighbours are running out of patience and cotton wool! ;)

May be worth getting the dealer to double-check all the door/bonnet/boot sensors and replace the internal sensors. If they still don't get it right, threaten them with rejecting the car (assuming it's fairly new?).

My alarm has never gone off without obvious reason. I'm not sure about the indicators - I don't think I've ever seen my alarm go off!

The car is 2 months old. The Dealer wants more info before he starts to replace bits but when it is soooo random i can't see how i can. Do all Pug dealers have this sort of 'it's your problem attitude afteer spending £15k on a car?
I reckon it's not the internal sensors a the alarm still goes off with them deactivated (using the internal deactivate button on the dash). that leaves the doors, boot and bonnet. I have an inkling it may be the boot bacause i have tried to be scientific about it and slammed doors after an activation (no effect) and slammed boot shut (alarm stays silent after re-arming)...but not every time.

I would appreciate it if you could set your alarm then open the boot with the key on your car your car (then runaway). Then get your neighbours to e-mail me and tell me if the lights flash on your car or not.

Thanks Sara. I think mine's is probably the boot sensor. We shall see. How many visits did it take to get yours rectified :?:

Anyway, the car has been collected by the dealer today with strict instructions that i don't want it back unless that have at least replaced something and hopefully fixed it :!:

It appaers that the problem was a faulty siren - well, that's what the Dealer told me. This has been replaced under warranty. In any event it's been quiet for the past 2 days now, so fingers (and everything else) crossed for the sake of my neighbours :)

Perhaps you should try and set your alarm off.

From what ive read about the Monkeys at the Zoo i wouldnt put it past them to have just removed your siren and not replaced it,I hope thats not the case, but just a thought lol
