To reset the service mileage:

With the key in the ignition, but not turned, Press and hold down the mileage indicator button. Whilst still depressed turn the ignition key. At this point the mileage indicator will count down from 9-0. When it hits 0 release the button. There you have it - 20000 miles. Note my car is a non-multiplex car, but I would imagine it is the same for all.

Yes- with the oil situation. I was under the impression that the type of oil used for the service is semi-synthetic or better. Which if they had put that in my car originally there wouldnt have been a problem. I was going to supply my own fully synthetic oil at the time of the service, but there was no reduction in cost and thought in that case I may as well let them use there semi-synthetic as a kind of a engine flush and then refill with my own fully synthetic oil when I got home. If you exclude the time it takes for the oil to drain then its only 5- 10 minutes.

It is possible that the oil I drained after the service was new. I do not know the colour of magnetec oil, but I am pretty sure it isn’t black. And like you say Alex magnetec is semi-synthetic and the oil used previous to the service was fully synthetic. I am hoping there is an easy way of testing for this difference.

As yet I have not had a reply from the service department. I just wish garages would do exactly what they are supposed to do without trying to find extra work and/ or cut corners. Its about the only industry that can get away with stuff like this and when it comes to my pride and joy I get a little irate.

206 cc is a great French car let down by Peugeot UK. :(

I used Magnatec in my previous car so I can tell you its colour is the same as any other oil.

I changed my oil at a month or so back at around 6500m and even then it wasn't black...

Ring all your local dealers. Prices vary considerably.

Canterbury Motor co. quoted £150.
Northgate, Ashford £140
KAP, Folkestone £120.

Shop, shop shop. My favourite past-time! ;)

My local dealer is quoting £143 for the 2 year/20000 mile service. I always wait for them to complete the service instead of leaving it with them. The dealer I use is Hall Motors in Warrington - It is booked in for Wednesday afternoon so I will post the results then. However if they start saying brake fluid change every 2 years for an extra £50 I will be questioning if it is required at the same service interval why isn't it included in the price.

Also if the dealers start coming the patter and you feel you are being conned tell them you are going to post your experiences on here - they may suddenly change their attitude.

Personally Hall Motors in Warrington have always been very good on the couple of occasions I have had to deal with them, only slip up was on the recall for the microswitch the lady on the service desk said a pin had been replaced in my sunroof..........close enough.

Regards

Dave

Service done all ok, got to take it back for the manifold because of the 2800rpm rasping - waiting on the part arriving. Hall Motors have been really helpful and friendly, strongly recommend them if you are in the Warrington area.

I had the mod done to get both windows to raise with one pull of the switch as opposed to just the drivers window.........they hadn't seen it before so fortunately I had written the steps down and taken it with me.

Even bumped into another CC owner whilst I was there who was experiencing some problems so I told her to come along to the website and check it out, between all the users of these forums I think we have probably encountered virtually every problem possible. :D

A bit more info on my experience. When I got the car back I forgot to mention that there was a large amount of oil/ muck under the sump coming from the oil filter area. Didnt think much of it. Spoke to some mates at college and the guy who works at Castrol is going to see what he can do as far as getting a sample tested. Whilst explaining the situation. Another colleague mentioned that a lot of guys he works with used to work in service dealerships and said how these guys wanted to get out of such departments due to the sort of stuff that goes on there. One trick he told us about was a way of saving oil. When doing an oil change the tech takes off the oil filter and allows the oil to drain out through the filter orifice . Once the oil is low enough a new filter is installed and then the engine is topped up with oil. Kinda think this is what happened to my car. Only I still reckon they put old oil back in to top up the car. Either way if I am certain enough I will be taking this just a little bit further unless they want treimburse me for the service ;) (why break it when you can get in on it)

He also said that the technician were also told to look for desirable work to bill the customer for. Brake fluid, coolant and easy warranty work that required several man hours but only cheap to replace parts were some of the ideal candidates. He reckoned 80% of the time the brake fluid was unchanged when customers were billed for it.

DHP,

Did Hall's mention the brake fluid? I rang round last week for prices, no real difference between Hall, Elton's or Tom Garner. StHelens quoted £170 instead of £140  How long did it take?

They didn't mention anything about brake fluid. It does mention the intervals for brake fluid on the first few pages of the service book and it is well over 2 years 20000 miles. It took about two and a half hours but I did have them looking at a couple of other things (i.e. both front windows raising with a single pull of the switch and a couple of squeeks). Halls have always been very helpful and the car always clean and free from oily marks and fingerprints afterwards. Car is booked in for next Thursday morning to get the manifold done under warranty - curing the 2800rpm rasp.

Ive just booked mine in for its 20000mile service.

Tried Warwick Wright City, who have done warranty work on the car before, and they wanted £200. I tried to get some price matching by quoting Derek and Lyndons price, but the response was 'Thats the price, take or leave it'. I left it and called Warwick Wright Ilford got quoted £150.
Then contacted Wells of Woodford, inconvenient opening times but they will collect and return the car (and service it I hope) for £140. I have avoided them in the passed because although they are local, when I wanted to buy the CC I was treated as a time waster who couldnt afford it and just wanted a test drive. Has anyone else any experience of their service competence. :?:

Dont let the dealer put fuel additive in its crap, if they say it needs it get some from Halfords but not forte. Alot of manufactures do not recommend it butt the dealers get bonuses ? from the companies so thats why they sell it, and £49 for brake flush what a rip off this is so easy to do.

michael,

i used motorway cars in bathgate - they were £106.

i tried hardies in larbert as they are close to work but were £150 and the arnold clark zoo at tollcross were £125.

the service was the standard 20k one so they did whatever the book lists for that service.

they did it while i waited too and it took 75 minutes.
