I read about some of you having a Clifford Alarm system. With which you can have e few remote controlled functions on your car.
A local I.C.E. shop is selling Clifford over here and do a free installation for it.
I'm interested in a clifford G4 600 Alarm and add the following functions too it:
-It has Black-Jax (any experiences with it?) anti car-jacking
-Remote windows up/down
-remote roof
-Auto-start so i can start my engine from a distance
Do you know if the alarm has a lot of unnecessary reports. Is it easy to use, can it harm the electronics of my multiplex car, etc.... etc...
Thx

Hi RTF, I bought the 500 and will add auto-windows-up when I get round to it! I think my alarm is great. No, it's had no affect on my multiplex at allI'm interested in a clifford G4 600 Alarm and add the following functions too it:

The only thing is, these alarms have so many features that it takes a lot of getting used to, but the tapping in the code does become a habit. I've had mine a year and half and still have to read the book to understand what all the flashes of the indicators mean!
The first time we both got out (in a pub carpark), I didn't follow the rules and the black jax went off and I didn't know how to stop it
Oh, and when you take it into a dealer for a service, don't give them the black jax code - you can set the fob to auto-disarm. Instructions are in the manual

Thx Pauline!
3 days... well, when i decide on it i hope the guy here can do it a lot faster. Though he said he first had to check out the Electrical Circuit of the CC for the remote roof operation...
(this worries me)
The many functions on the Remote are handy, but also confusing indeed. But if you, by accident, push a button when it's in you pocket or something and you are close to your car does it then go on or off? Or do you have to push the button longer then that?

Well the short version is that it isn't practicle for everyday use and becomes a nuisance and so in the end I always ended up turning it off. (Also alarm loses its "official" thatcham rating with this feature enabled).
Quick example going out for the day with my Girlfriend from my house.
The routine would be :
1) Enter garage and start car - rush to enter code on plain view switch before alarm goes off and imobiliser kicks in.
2) Reverse out of garage and up the driveway and then get out to shut the garage door - Rush to shut garage door, re-enter car and re-enter code within 30 seconds as car now thinks its being hijacked as the door has being opened whilst the engine is running.
3) Pull over sharp pointy bit of drive and let girlfriend in - Car again thinks its being stolen and either i) I put in the code or ii) I forget and to my embarrassment before the end of the road the alarm goes off and the car dies until I re-enter the code.
4) We think go 1/2 a mile up the road and G/F get outs to either post letters at village shop or obtain provisions (Drink etc.) again the car thinks its being stolen and again I have to re-enter the code.
5) She gets back in a minute or so later and again I have to input the code and then we head off for the day out ... Grrrrr
Bear in mind that if you enter it wrong the alarm goes off and the car stalls at the next junction
Seriously unimpressed with this feature I had it on the Griffith 500 and turned it off within 48 hours of the alarm being fitted. Its a joke.
Even assuming you left it on in reality the thief would run off with your keys and you'd be left with a car which you couldn't drive (or move as the steering column would lock) and probably couldn't locate easily. Depending upon where it stalled you could then cause some serious problems to others.
Other dodgy Clifford accessory is the Fuelguard (which again I had on the TVR) great until you stall and have to reset the device (involved task as those with the device will know) in heavy traffic. Also gets effected by localised conditions (eg. people using microwave ovens, tv remotes etc.).

Hmm... So now doubting about Blackjax
And fuelguard is a standard on every Clifford alarm? And you have to reset it every time you stall (not that i do it that much, but when i do i want to get out asap
) ?

RTF - Still worth getting a G4 600 as although the Blackjax is a tad naff it also has the superb anti tilt and roll sensors which make it worthwhile
Also get dual zone radar sensors as standard too (I think) which would be a major improvement on the standard peugeot effort.
You never know you might like blackjax.

I really like Blackjax
But then I don't have a garage for my CC
And I don't have a girlfriend either (sorry boys!)
Oh, I find blackjax very reassuring and, once you get the hang of it, you're fine
And if you forget to tap the code in, it doesn't just stall the car - first it beeps five times and then ticks like a time bomb! giving you just enough time to tap the code in

Is it easy to turn it on or off?
And what are those anti-tilt and roll sensors exactly? can't remember reading about it? (or i've translated it wrong...
)
pff.... decissions...

Say this out loud...
Tick tock
tick tock
tick tock
tick tock
tick tock
BANG!
Just kidding with ya, you've got plenty of time
yeah, 30 secs but you can set the secret number to anything you like so my combination of presses is quite quick to do
But it was interesting when my buttons broke and I kept setting the alarm off
hehe
Oh, the anti-tilt and roll go off if people lift your car to tow it away/nick the alloys.
