I checked out the above link and took their advice and brought the recommended 'Wonder Wheels' wheel cleaning kit.. Costs about £8.

I always used the autoglym 'clean wheels' product but it never seemed to do the job properly.. This wonder wheels kit is fantastic and having brushed on the solution it left me alloys gleaming...

Get some! ;)

being a new-found car cleaning obsessive - I've been warned off acid based wheel cleaners, manual states the same. I have always used Wonder Wheels previously (daren't on the new car :) )

Acid based wheel cleaners work by eating a layer of laquer from the wheel, this is ok,but it will after time start to turn the wheel dull.

its hard to notice until u see a new wheel and then see how dull yours our.

the best way to keep wheels clean, and its the hardest is to just wash then in water, twice a week if u can

lets just say ive a mate in the know, hehehehe

Personally when cleaning wheels I just use a sponge and some water. After they have dried off (normally assisted by a quick blast down the by pass) I use Autosol or Autoglym Metal Polish to get rid of any stubborn brake dust and am left with nice gleaming alloys - all ready for tyre dressing to be applied (turtle wax do a great one wet n' black or autoglym rubber cleaner)

I've found a much easier way to keep the wheels clean, replace them!

So far one pot hole and one a**e hole who pushed me off the road, I've been through two new wheels and tyres... They are very clean...
