Wipers - Silly Question

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I have no idea what the answer is. Here in Australia (like the UK) our cars are right hand drive.

I note in my CC the wipers sweep from right to left. My previous 206 Cab swept from left to right, and every car I've looked at on the road is also left to right.

I'm interested if anyone knows why this is so?

The cars are French so the car is basically designed as a left-hand drive. Not everthing gets reversed for the right-hand drive versions.

The wipers and the bonnet release are the most obvious examples.

Yes, i agree so, and the wiper and indicator light control stalk are also reversed which takes me quite a long time to get used to it.

Yeah you get that with just about any European cars in Australia. It's annoying to have to change your driving habits. Imagine having one of each in the same family! Wipers on all the time...

it's quite a recent thing with peugeot. all the 106's i had plus the 1998 306 were all left to right, but when i got the 2000 206LX it had become right to left.

as far as the other things go i don't know as i've only ever owned 1 renault and 7 peugeots and they are all french

Only kidding but my missus was standing behind me at that point. She couldn't believe there was a CC forum let alone a special on wipers.
